Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts Chengdu is not a 985 university, but an ordinary undergraduate institution.

Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, referred to as CDAFA, is a professional art academy founded by Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2000 to create Sichuan University of the Arts.

The Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government plan to build the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts into an independent art college. It will be basically completed in one year, independently recruit students in three years, establish a brand in the first five years, and strive to be first-class in ten years. In 2020, the school selected a site of 1,060 acres in Ziyang City, with a school building area of ??308,000 square meters, and a total investment of 3.9 billion to build the Linkong Economic Zone Campus, build a landscape academy in a park city, and fully promote the construction of the Academy of Fine Arts. There are currently nearly 4,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.
