Chen Rui, born in 1961. He started learning trumpet at the age of 12. He was admitted to the High School Affiliated to Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1974 and graduated in 1979. In the same year, he was admitted to Tianjin Conservatory of Music. He graduated with honors in 1983 and stayed at the school to teach. During nine years of study at the Affiliated High School and the University, I studied under Professor Chen Mingde and gained solid basic skills. He studied and performed a large number of classical, romantic, and modern trumpet classics, and under the guidance of Mr. Ji Ruikai, trumpet professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, he mastered new methods and concepts of contemporary trumpet playing. In 1988, he was promoted to trumpet instructor. In the same year, he was admitted to the Tianjin Conservatory of Music for a master's degree in trumpet performing arts. He continued his studies with Professor Chen Mingde and Professor Ji Ruikai, and received a master's degree in trumpet performing arts in 1991. He is currently a professor of trumpet at Tianjin Conservatory of Music, a master’s tutor, and a member of the academic committee of the academy. Director of the National Wind Band Association. Since teaching in 1983, Chen Rui has been teaching trumpet for more than 20 years and has gained a lot of success. His playing skills are comprehensive, his tone is sweet and resolute, and his repertoire covers a wide range of music.
In October 2000, "Trumpet Examination Tutorial", edited by him, was published by Tianjin Baihua Literature and Art Publishing House. The tutorial was welcomed by professional and amateur trumpet players and established a strong presence in the Chinese trumpet circle. Achieved great impact.
In March 2001, as a Chinese trumpet professor, he went to Athens, Greece to participate in master classes of trumpet professors from the United States, China and Greece. The college teaches trumpet master classes. During the teaching period, he also served as a special soloist, performing Aluqinian's "Alouchunian" with the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kalamata Symphony Orchestra respectively in the Athens Concert Hall and the Kalamata Concert Hall. In January 2002, he went to the Conservatory of Music of Western Michigan University in the United States for training as a visiting scholar. He studied postgraduate courses such as "Trumpet Teaching Method", "Brass Tube Teaching Method", "Conducting Method", and "Medieval Music History". During this period, he gave recitals and taught trumpet master classes at Truman State University. Participated in the performance of the Brass Faculty Concert of the School of Music at Western Michigan University (WMU). and performed a trumpet solo at the school's international festival. His performance has been highly praised by his American colleagues. After Professor Chen Rui returned to China in September 2002, he immediately threw himself into intense teaching. In teaching, he drew on the advanced training methods of American brass music to guide the practice of trumpet students. He has made rapid progress, especially in terms of pitch, rhythm and musical expression, and has received very good results.
In May 2004, he and the United States came to China to give lectures. Dr. Gregory Jones, a trumpet expert, and Dr. Nikolas Xantoulis, a trumpet professor at the Athens Conservatory of Music in Greece, performed in concert with the Tianjin Orchestra at the Tianjin Concert Hall.
