Seven principles of Kugou music product design:
1. Long-term value is more important than short-term gain;
For example, the trade-off between pop-up ads and user experience, because server use and optimization require costs. If we choose unlimited pop-up ads, we can recover the cost, but it will inevitably affect the user experience.
2. The experience of the majority of users cannot be affected in order to meet the needs of a few users;
The needs of the niche are high quality, but the number of uses is small, and they are destined not to become the masses
Popular products pay more attention to the unique needs of 99% of people, and cannot affect the experience of the majority of users in order to meet the needs of a few users.
3. Think more about what you can do without;
In fact, many things can be omitted. You must learn to subtract demands and reject unnecessary demands. Sometimes giving up adding features and keeping it simple can actually give the product a clearer idea.
4. Based on public needs, not your own preferences;
Product managers are most taboo about letting their own taste determine everyone's taste.
5. Only do core functions in the first version, don’t pursue perfection, good products are iteratively produced;
When making the first version of mass products, consider making a perfect solution The demand development cycle is long, so you have to think about the most fundamental and core public functional requirements, and just do this part well, not too much, or even just a few buttons.
6. Design must also balance costs and make every effort;
The plan is not necessarily the best plan, but it must be the best executed plan
7. Even if the function cannot be implemented, data and feedback must be collected for continuous optimization.
Many product managers will use forums, public opinion monitoring and other channels to obtain data and feedback, but we recommend face-to-face communication with users so that the needs are clearer and more direct. Because sometimes what an online user says is different from what he does.
Self-cultivation of product managers
·Identify unreliable requirements: Don’t do all the functions, make appropriate subtractions, let the product retain the core things, and be streamlined.
·Proposing reliable solutions: It means proposing solutions to problems. Having only needs without solutions is unreliable.
If a useful solution is not put in front of the user, the user will not know what he wants. Therefore, proposing reliable and effective solutions is a compulsory quality for a product manager.
It would be better if the following skills could be added on top of being reliable.
·Technical knowledge: It is best to understand UML design diagrams, communicate interfaces with developers, and understand algorithm structures. It can also reduce a lot of office violence. Of course, if you are a beautiful product manager, you can ignore this.
·Design aesthetics: Aesthetics vary, but there are still some rules. In our company, interaction personnel are generally required to introduce interaction knowledge to people in other positions, share some good designs and solutions in the industry, and improve the sense of aesthetics.
·Project coordination: Many times before the project goes online, the APP has not been packaged, the main process is still blocked, and there are still many bugs and a series of problems. Product managers have unshirkable responsibilities. As long as you know a little about technology and have rich management experience, you can avoid or reduce the occurrence of problems.
·Operational awareness: Product planning should also have an operational awareness. Breaking such restrictions early and learning more about operations will be helpful for product planning.
