Tianjin’s geological structure is complex, and most of it is covered by Cenozoic sediments. The terrain is mainly plains and depressions, with low mountains and hills in the north, and the altitude gradually decreases from north to south. It is the highest in the north, with an altitude of 1,052 meters; and the lowest in the southeast, with an altitude of 3.5 meters. The highest peak in the city: Jiushan Mountain (1078.5 meters above sea level). The general outline of the landform is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Tianjin has three types of terrain: mountains, hills and plains, with plains accounting for about 93%. Except for the northern part that borders the southern side of Yanshan Mountain, which is mostly mountainous, the rest are alluvial plains. The mountainous areas in the northern part of Jixian County are low mountains and hills with an altitude of less than 1,000 meters. Close to the mountains are sloping plains composed of alluvial fans, distributed in a fan shape. To the south of the sloping plain is the alluvial plain, and to the southeast is the coastal plain.
