Kunming is located in the middle of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, at 12 degrees 1 minutes to 13 degrees 4 minutes east longitude and 24 degrees 23 minutes to 26 degrees 22 minutes north latitude. The maximum horizontal distance between east and west is 14 kilometers, and the maximum vertical distance between north and south is 22 kilometers. Kunming is located in the subtropical zone of north latitude. However, most areas in the country have typical temperate climate characteristics and are known as "Spring City" at home and abroad. There are many ethnic minorities in Yunnan. Among the 55 ethnic minorities in China, there are 51 in Yunnan, of which 25 have a population of over 5, and live in a certain area. The population distribution of ethnic minorities in Yunnan is characterized by the coexistence of three types: inhabited, mixed and scattered, with the plane distribution mainly in the frontier and the vertical distribution mainly in the mountainous area. There are 1 ethnic groups, such as Hui, Manchu, Bai, Naxi, Mongolian, Zhuang, Dai, Achang, Buyi and Shui, who mainly live in the dam areas and border valleys in the interior. Eight ethnic groups, including Hani, Yao, Lahu, Wa, Jingpo, Bulang, De 'ang and Jino, mainly live in the mid-mountain areas. Six ethnic groups, such as Miao, Yi, Tibetan, Pumi, Nu and Dulong, mainly live in high mountainous areas. Yi people are distributed in both mid-level and high mountain areas. Kunming is also a gathering place of natural and cultural landscapes. A long history and unique geological structure have left many cultural relics and scenic spots for Kunming.
