Once upon a time, there was a young Buyi man and woman in Shuicheng. The boy was called Yin Ge and the girl was called Jin Niang. The two hit it off and fell deeply in love. In autumn, the river surged, preventing the two from meeting. A pair of lovers suffer in longing. The rhinoceros was very compassionate and carried Yin Ge and Jin Niang across the river to meet each other for three consecutive years.

When it was time to prepare for marriage, Rhinoceros heard from the fairy family that the two were not destined to be united and would never appear again. The two could not meet each other and agreed to die in love. When Brother Yin and Jin Niang jumped into the rolling river, a golden light suddenly flashed, and they stood on the back of the rhinoceros. The rhinoceros carried them to the sea.

Yin Ge’s father and Jin Niang’s mother missed their children so much that they went through many hardships, begging for scraps of copper from various villages, and asked the emperor for a title. Two bronze drum chimes, one male and one female, were cast. On the sixth day of June, the bronze drum chimes rang, and Yin Ge and Jin Niang came back standing on the backs of rhinos.
