Going back and forth like this, I think is what is called "cultivation". It is also the process of a person's determination. The problem is that it is easy for us to do small kindnesses, but it is not easy to do small kindnesses continuously. It is even more difficult to be able to open our mind to understand the complex society and do great kindness. It is even more difficult to continue to do small things for great kindness. Great good must mean punishing evil. This evil may be a small evil or a big evil; it may be an obvious evil or a hidden evil. The process of punishing evil requires a balance of strength and softness. It is not just violence or just education. There are many good ideas in the world that many people talk about but few practice. Without practice, it is impossible to obtain its true meaning. Many people only care about how to become a Buddha, which often only increases their worries. The Buddha is no longer in the temple, no longer imagined. Buddha is in life, in action, and in sacrifice for salvation. Even if it is a very small thing to help someone else, you must try your best to do the best for them. In this process, there is naturally wisdom.
