The song of an inconspicuous nightingale made the Chinese emperor cry. However, the nightingale lost its freedom and could not sing freely, so it left quietly. When the emperor became seriously ill, the nightingale came back to sing for him.

Yanni has always liked nightingales. After coming to China, he always wanted to use an instrument to imitate the sound of a nightingale. Western instruments did not have this function. After Yanni came to China, he found a Chinese folk instrument called the "bamboo flute", whose sound is similar to that of a nightingale. Nightingales are almost indistinguishable. So Yanni composed "Nightingale".
