What are the music majors?

Music majors include instrumental performance major, vocal performance major, musicology major, musicology major, composition and composition theory major, recording art major, and music performance major.

Instrumental Performance Major:

Among many conservatories, the Instrumental Performance major carries the most weight and has the most majors. Of course, it also has the largest number of students enrolled. The musical instrument performance major is roughly divided into two directions: Western musical instrument performance and ethnic musical instrument performance. Western musical instruments are generally divided into keyboard instruments and orchestral instruments.

Vocal performance major:

The vocal performance major is basically divided into bel canto singing, ethnic singing, popular singing and the original singing method that is just emerging nowadays. Generally speaking, bel canto singing and ethnic singing require a certain piano background and a certain level of performance, while popular singing and original singing do not have too high requirements.

In the additional examination of the college entrance examination, students must not only sing songs (bel canto, ethnic, popular singing), but also master basic knowledge of music theory and sight-singing skills of staff music.

Musicology major:

The musicology major includes two directions: art and education. Students studying this major need to master a large amount of music history, theory, Chinese and foreign folk music, music aesthetics, etc. They must also have certain abilities in piano or other musical instruments, as well as a foundation in composition technology and considerable literary skills.

Graduates majoring in art will develop into fields such as television and radio editing, commentary, planning, management, and film and television companies.

In addition to the required professional courses, students majoring in education must also study psychology, education, and receive training in dance, conducting and other related aspects.
