The Music Department of Harvard University covers a wide range of styles and genres, the whole range of western music history, from medieval singing to contemporary music, and a large number of music styles from other parts of the world, especially South Asian and African cultures, jazz and American music. The New England Conservatory of Music requires audition, but Harvard does not. Most students apply in the last year of high school.
