In principle, NetEase Cloud Music members can use the same vinyl VIP on up to five devices ("devices" include but are not limited to computers, mobile phones, tablets and other terminal devices), and can only be used on up to five devices in a day. It can be used on three devices, and the same account can only be used on up to two devices at the same time.

NetEase Cloud Music is a music product developed by NetEase. It is the result of NetEase Hangzhou Research Institute. It relies on professional musicians, DJs, friend recommendations and social functions. The online music service focuses on playlists, social networking, big-name recommendations and music fingerprints. It takes playlists, DJ programs, social networking and geographical location as its core elements and focuses on discovery and sharing.
The product was officially released on April 23, 2013. As of April 2017, the product has included clients for nine major platforms including iPhone, Android, Web, Windows, iPad, WP8, Mac, Win10UWP, and Linux. On January 16, 2015, NetEase Cloud Music won the "Outstanding Visual Design Award of the Year" from Baidu China's Good Applications.
On February 9, 2018, NetEase Cloud Music and Tencent Music reached a mutual copyright cooperation. On March 6, NetEase Cloud Music and Alibaba Music reached a mutual copyright cooperation. On April 5, Tencent Music Entertainment Group issued a statement stating that it would suspend sub-licensing cooperation negotiations with NetEase Cloud Music.
On June 11, 2019, NetEase Cloud Music was selected into the "2019 Forbes China's Most Innovative Companies List". On September 6, Alibaba, as a leading investor, led a US$700 million financing in NetEase Cloud Music.
In August 2020, NetEase Cloud Music ranked 108th in the "Suzhou High-tech Zone·2020 Hurun Global Unicorn List" with a market value of 20 billion yuan.
