What are the other flaws in Mendelssohn’s work?

Many of Mendelssohn's works lack any real eye-opening profundity or ineffable mystery. His interests and hobbies are mainly classical music, from which he draws creative harmony and clear and logical thinking. This is consistent with classical art advocating order, balance, control and normative perfection, but contrary to romanticism's emphasis on freedom, movement, passion and unrestraint. Therefore, later generations criticized him, saying that his music was like flowers cultivated in a greenhouse, lacking deep emotions, dramatic conflicts, profundity and heroism, and was conservative.
