To learn to listen to music, we must first get rid of a kind of self-restraint. As American musician Allen Coplen said, there is often a tendency to exaggerate the difficulty of correctly understanding music. They always say in one way or another, "I like music very much, but I know nothing about it." But it is rare to hear anyone say, "I know nothing about drama or novels." If you have an inferiority complex about the ability to respond to music, you'd better throw it away. These feelings of inferiority are often groundless.
