Folk Songs of Northern Shaanxi This is a masterpiece handed down from generation to generation engraved with old ingots on the Loess Plateau in the northwest. It is a strange flower between Huangpo and Huangshui. A high-pitched song can stop the moving clouds and sweep away all the overwhelming sounds; a single sound reaches the ears and fills the heart, making people feel refreshed. She is the folk song of northern Shaanxi.

Folk songs in northern Shaanxi are the crystallization of the spirit, thoughts, and emotions of the working people in northern Shaanxi. They are the closest companions of the people in northern Shaanxi and the most direct reflection of the lives of the working people in northern Shaanxi.

Northern Shaanxi is a place where folk songs gather. There are many kinds of folk songs, which are commonly known locally as "mountain songs" or "sour songs". There are mainly more than 20 kinds of Xintianyou, minor tunes, drinking songs, and Yulin ditties, among which Xintianyou is the most distinctive and representative.

Folk songs in northern Shaanxi exalt the fragrance of the soil on the loess, and flow with the most popular vocabulary and the brightest passion of the people of the Yellow River. She is the mother tongue and homeland of our loess, and it is also the characteristic and essence of our loess culture.

Northern Shaanxi folk songs have distinct regional characteristics: rustic, grand, and beautiful. This popular and bright feature is enough to make it stand on the throne of the music world, using minor songs to express the power of Huang Zhongda Lu.

In northern Shaanxi, people's emotions of joy, anger, sadness, and joy can be expressed in the form of folk songs. Whether you are standing on the top of the lofty mountains, walking on the winding mountain roads, or traveling on the flat road, you can hear the melodious singing wafting in the wind everywhere. This is the folk song of northern Shaanxi. "Women cry when they are sad, and men sing when they are sad." In fact, both men, women, and children in northern Shaanxi like folk songs. On the Loess Plateau, there are not only the low-pitched singing of the mothers-in-law, but also the high-pitched singing of the young people who "stop the sheep's voice and respond to the cow's voice" echoing. Northern Shaanxi is the world of folk songs and the ocean of folk songs.

There are many types of folk songs in northern Shaanxi, including Four Seasons Songs, Wu Geng Tune, Laigong Tune, Drinking Songs, Yangge, Labor Songs, Songs and Dances, Yulin Ditty, Northern Shaanxi Suites, Duo Rentai, Customs Songs, religious songs and Tanjia tunes, etc., mainly minor tunes and Xintianyou tunes.

Minor tunes are mainly narrative, usually with scenes, characters, storylines, and detailed descriptions. For example: "Harming the Baby", "Exploring Sister Yu", "Sending Lover", "Four Guarantees to Get a Job" and "Xia Liulin" are all long narrative folk songs.

Xintianyou (called "Shuntianyou" in the area bordering Inner Mongolia, and "Shanqu" in the Shenmufu Valley area) is a folk song widely popular in northern Shaanxi. It is relatively short and improvised. The creative product can be freely sung according to different situations. For example, villagers go to work in the fields, go up to the mountains to herd sheep, go into the woods to cut firewood, and drive donkeys to pull coal. When they feel something in their hearts, they sing at the top of their lungs. Its language is simple, the rhythm is obvious, and the rhymes are changeable. It generally has a two-sentence structure, with the upper and lower sentences rhyming, and no other sentences rhyming. Based on the seven-character sentence or the cross sentence, the main sentence of the upper sentence compares the scene or describes the scene, and the second sentence mainly focuses on the idea, combining the virtual and the real. The melody is melodious and high-pitched, rough and unrestrained, with a clear rhythm, harmonious rhyme and strong lyrical color. It fully reflects the bold character of northern Shaanxi people. It consists of two sentences and one paragraph. The paragraphs can be separated or combined, or they can also form an independent song, similar to a "sanqu".

Folk songs in northern Shaanxi reflect the rich content of social life. Most of the folk songs in northern Shaanxi that are popular today were produced from the end of the 19th century to the 1940s. They not only reflect the content of social changes, but also the content of "Changgong Songs", reflecting the people of northern Shaanxi's oppression and exploitation of the feudal unified class. Resistance, especially revolutionary historical folk songs, is a precious collection of revolutionary historical materials. Such as the famous "Brother from the Red Army Comes Back" and "Shandandan Blooms Red and Gorgeous", etc., are very valuable. However, among the more than 8,000 folk songs in northern Shaanxi, such works are only a minority. Most works reflect ordinary people and ordinary things. For example: a young daughter-in-law misses her mother's family, a eldest girl longs to get married, a girl fortune-tells, a drummer welcomes a bride, a traveler misses his hometown, young people talk about love, couples quarrel and amuse themselves, etc. In addition, masons use songs to decorate the monotonous sound of stone hammers; farmers use songs to drive away loneliness and sorrow; people who drive livestock spirits fill the rugged sheep trails with their melodious songs; and sentimental little daughters-in-law use songs to express their sorrows. . These are basically expressions of emotion.

In addition, people in northern Shaanxi also use folk songs to serve their daily lives: salesmen use songs to sell goods, farmers use songs to pray for rain, they use songs to celebrate and entertain during festivals, men and women use songs to hold ceremonies and drink alcohol when getting married. Sometimes they use songs to guess fists, use songs to tell historical stories, use songs to socialize, use songs to record major historical events, use songs to talk about love, use songs to describe new people and new things, and even use songs to cry at the grave. He also sings instead of crying. Even scandals spread thousands of miles away are spread through songs; strange people and strange things are celebrated through songs.

Among the 8,000 folk songs in northern Shaanxi, works that reflect love life, marriage issues, or are related to this content account for 80% of all folk songs. Xintianyou, known as the representative work of the working people, reflects almost all this content. Therefore, Xintianyou is also said to be the "ocean of love".

The folk songs that Northern Shaanxi people love to sing the most are love songs. In the old society, young men and women could not control their own love and marriage, so they had to use singing to express their dissatisfaction with feudal marriage and their pursuit of love. Due to natural conditions and other reasons, the economy of northern Shaanxi was backward and farmers lived a difficult life. Men went to other provinces in groups to find jobs, that is, "go to the west entrance". Before the husband left, the wife gave many instructions, which were sweet, affectionate, and lyrical. The color is very rich. For example, in the popular "Walking to the West Exit":

Take the main road,

Don't take the small road.

There are many people on the road. /p>

To relieve worries

Stay in a big hotel,

Don’t stay in a small store.

There are many thieves in small stores. ,

Worry about poaching you

Sleep in the middle,

Don’t sleep on both sides. /p>

I dug in front of you.

Drink the water from the long stream.

Don’t drink from the spring water.

The snake’s tail is wagging in the spring water. /p>

I worry about drinking you.

If you smoke, you will get angry.

Don’t get angry with others.

There are thieves in the woods. ,

Worry about the Mongolian sweat medicine

...

People who "walk to the west exit" never come back for years. When the wife at home thinks of her husband, she may hold her hand. Shake the spinning wheel and sing while rocking, or stand in front of the door and sing softly to express their attachment to their relatives far away:

The peas bloom a little red,

Hold the needle I miss my brother when sewing clothes.

I miss my brother so much that I can’t see him above.

Holding rock sugar in my mouth is like bitter coptis.

A big river cannot support fish if there is no water.

My sister cannot live without you, brother.

A pair of bastards are flying in the sky,

I hope to see you soon

< p>...

"Orchid Flower", "A Big Woman Wants a Man" and "I'll Find a Good Husband for You" are all Northern Shaanxi folk songs that reflect local marriage customs. They have different characteristics in different historical periods. The three songs including "Orchid Flower" all describe the methods of marriage, but due to different eras, the methods of marriage are also different. "Orchid Flower" describes the ancient traditional method of marriage, such as buying and selling marriages, and the new daughter-in-law has to sit in a sedan chair when entering the house. "The third team blew the whistle and the two teams fought." By the time of "Big Women Want to Be Han", anti-feudal thoughts and sentiments had formed a trend. "Big women" dared to speak out and dare to ask their parents to get married, and weddings were simplified. Now, riding a horse replaces sitting in a sedan chair. In the song "Finding a Good Husband for You", the heroine already "makes her own decision", and the way to get married is not to cover her head and wear embroidered shoes. Instead, they "ride a horse and wear flowers" and "enter the husband's house chatting and laughing" with the groom.

Northern Shaanxi folk songs are close to life, reflect the reality of life, and have strong emotional color, especially love songs.

The protagonist in "Miss You Really Miss You" is a young girl who has not yet left the court. One of the passages expresses her feelings like this:

I miss you so much that I really miss you,

I miss you all over my body;

I miss you from the tip of my hair,

It’s hard to get a red hair tie;

I miss you from the skin of my head,< /p>

It’s hard to comb Yulin’s comb;

My eyelashes miss you,

It’s hard to close my eyes day and night;

My eyes miss you. Yeah,

It’s hard to hold back the tears;

I miss you on the tip of my tongue,

It’s sour, sweet, bitter and spicy;

… …

If it is just a revelation of the character’s inner thoughts and feelings, then this Xintianyou song “Holding Hands” is a description of the character’s actions:

You want to hold my hand,< /p>

I want to kiss your mouth,

Hold hands, kiss your mouth,

The two of us will walk together.

The song has four lines and is easy to understand. Although the hero and heroine are careless, their movements are natural and their mood is relaxed. It can be said to be a masterpiece of northern Shaanxi.

Due to historical and natural conditions, northern Shaanxi is economically backward and culturally underdeveloped. In addition, the population is sparse and the residences are scattered. Therefore, the feudal consciousness' rule here is relatively weak. There used to be a folk song called "Three Big Monsters" spread in some remote mountainous areas: "The wall won't fall when sand is beaten against it; the mother-in-law won't be upset when she marries a Chinese man; the prostitute will jump over the wall and the dog won't bite her." It can be seen that the ideology of northern Shaanxi is reflected.

Northern Shaanxi folk songs are widely circulated in northern Shaanxi. Most people in northern Shaanxi can more or less sing a few songs. The singing can be heard while working in the fields and while walking. During farm breaks and after dinner, people often gather together to take turns singing. In addition to this natural spread among the masses in daily life, there are two other ways of spread: one is the spread by folk singers and artists; the other is the spread by collectives or individuals in some customary activities. Activities such as "going through business", wedding receptions, memorial ceremonies, prayers, Yangko and other activities all require singing. Another example is "Welcoming Songs", which include "settling songs", "walking on the red carpet", "worshiping heaven and earth", "drafting the tent", "songs at the top", "songs for sending children off", etc.

I was born in a very ordinary family in Yongping Town, Yanchuan County, Shaanxi Province. His father is a people's policeman and his mother is a doctor. My father often taught me singing when I was young. He also loved playing the electronic keyboard and flute. Influenced by my father, I have loved singing and dancing since I was a child. In kindergarten, he was a child star who was good at singing and dancing! After entering junior high school, he was disliked by his family because he did not study well and always loved to listen to music. Later, because I couldn't stand the reprimands and endless cynicism from my family, I chose to join the army...

Arriving at the military camp was the biggest turning point in my life... I met the person who taught me how to play ball. Guitar and the teacher who introduced me to music. After that, I became deeply obsessed with the guitar, and later I started trying to write songs myself. In this way, I laid the foundation for myself on the road of music step by step.

After he was discharged from the army, he was introduced by a friend to the first performing arts bar in Yan'an, "Gu Zai You Bar". I met many musical friends here, which also played a key role in my future acting career. Just as my musical dream was growing, I was assigned to work at the Yan'an Oil Refinery...

A new environment, a strange place that had nothing to do with music. I was lost, even the unscrupulous singing voice I used to have was gone. I feel scared every time night comes, because I am the loneliest person then...

It was only after I started working that I realized that I knew nothing else but music. So I picked up the guitar again and started practicing like crazy.

During this time I forgot to contact anyone and practiced piano for more than 9 hours every day. Later I discovered that I fell in love with the dark night and loneliness. When I re-established my life goals, I found that my understanding and knowledge of music was far from enough, so I chose to go to school...

At first, my dream of going to college was blocked by my family. I objected, but stubbornly, I still packed my bags and embarked on my path to study...

Two years of college life gave me a different perspective on life, music, life, and myself. I gained a new understanding and made a qualitative leap on the road of music! When I dreamed of staying in Xi'an after graduation, various pressures forced me to return to my original workplace...

But after graduating from college, I will never feel discouraged again and still hold my heart. The musical dream is running forward. Although I am in a corner far away from music, my singing is flying everywhere on the Internet with my musical wings. I feel that I am still very happy!

When I was quietly enjoying my small harvest, several young people who had the same dream as me came together with me. We formed what is now the "Coyote Band"! From then on, I will never feel lonely or sad again, because I will be with them wherever I am, and my singing will never feel helpless and desolate again, because the voice of strength is added...
