Common types of music include: classical music, religious music, pop music, heavy metal music, and rock music.
1. Classical music.
Classical music can be divided into broad and narrow senses. Broadly speaking, it refers to those Western classical music created in the European mainstream cultural background starting from the Western Middle Ages. It is mainly different from popular music and folk music because of its complex and diverse creation techniques and the heavy connotation it can carry.
2. Religious music.
Religious music, also known as sacred music. It not only conveys God's revelation to people, but also expresses believers' reverence, praise, trust and prayer for God. Religious music is the source of European art music.
3. Popular music.
The accurate concept of pop music should be commercial music, which refers to music created with the main purpose of profit. It is commercial music entertainment and all the "industrial" phenomena related to it.
4. Heavy metal music.
Some people think that the music before the 1970s is called hard rock, and the music after the 1970s is called heavy metal. Most people think that they do not belong to the same category from a historical perspective. Blues has a strong flavor, and later spread to different places, forming different genres.
5. Rock music.
It emerged in the mid-1950s and was mainly influenced by rhythm and blues, country music and jingle bang alley music. Many early rock music were covers of black rhythm and blues, so rhythm and blues was its main foundation.
