Time flies by quite quickly. It’s almost a month since I picked up the car. Recently, I only visit the forum occasionally, but I can still feel everyone’s enthusiasm. In the previous car-picking assignment, I saw that many friends in the comment area mentioned the car computer, so in today’s post we will focus on CarPlay on our 2020 QX50.
In the past half month or so, I have occasionally taken pictures of my car. However, after getting the license plate, there are many limitations. I can’t park at will. However, I still made some favorite pictures, and I would like to share them with you.
Back to the topic, let’s talk about CarPlay. CarPlay is actually aimed at the pain point of "using mobile phones while driving". Its essence is actually to project the functions on the mobile phone to the car machine, so that when we want to make a call while driving; when we want to open the song list on the mobile phone while driving; when we want to adjust the navigation while driving, it can The emergence of ≈ driver's gospel. The CarPlay function does not need to be installed. As long as you connect your iPhone to the car, this function will appear directly in the car. As for the connection methods, there are two types, wired and wireless. It mainly depends on which one your car supports. PS: If it cannot be used, you can check whether it is turned on in the phone's settings-general-carplay.
Our 2020 QX50 supports wired carplay. Plug in the one on the right and connect it to your mobile phone. After the car recognizes your mobile phone, it will prompt you and you can enter directly. If there are other applications running in your car at the time, click Apply CarPlay in the red box below to directly enter the function.
To put it bluntly, in the QX50's vehicle system, the lower screen is equivalent to the function button, and the upper screen is equivalent to the function interface.
After the function is turned on, this is what it looks like. You can make calls, read text messages, check navigation, and use some apps on your phone such as NetEase Cloud Music.
However, limited by the domestic network environment, CarPlay does have many functional values ??that are difficult to be reflected.
In fact, CarPlay can expand and support many apps.
This also means that its functional experience does not reach 100, but even so, it is still a very excellent car and computer application.
Navigation can be regarded as a very high-frequency function that we use every day.
Apple’s own map is a collaboration with Amap, so the map you use on your iPhone is actually Amap. If you have other map apps installed on your phone, such as Baidu or Tencent, you can also use them.
The finger position is the button to switch on and off the real-time traffic conditions.
In fact, there are two main reasons why driving in the city is still inseparable from navigation: 1. Beijing is so huge. Now even many places in Hebei are considered Beijing, and it is impossible to find them without navigation. ; 2. Check the congestion situation directly with your mobile phone, which directly determines whether you can get the perfect attendance bonus.
The navigation input method, touch screen, is now supported by most vehicles.
Voice is also a big trend now. After all, when it comes to driving, it’s best to use your hands as little as possible. Nowadays, navigation software such as Baidu Maps already supports voice functions. Of course, for CarPlay, Siri is a more powerful presence. There are three ways to activate Siri: 1. The voice recognition button on the steering wheel; 2. Long press the area in the lower left corner of the screen that has a function similar to the home button; as shown in the picture above 3. Long press the home button on the phone can also activate CarPlay's Siri.
In addition to navigation, you can also find some surrounding points of interest, such as gas stations, food, points of interest, etc., which is very convenient, especially in an unfamiliar business district, and there is no need for Dianping , Xiaohongshu, you can search it directly on carplay.
In addition to navigation, another high-frequency function is the music player. Who doesn’t listen to a few of their favorite songs while driving?
As for CarPlay, basically these apps can support it.
Take my commonly used QQ music as an example. Basically, the playlists and other collections can be used normally in the car. It's a pity that when I chose Pilot, I didn't have Bose speakers! ! !
When music is played, lyrics scroll, but this is actually more for the co-pilot.
It can also be used normally to listen to FM, Himalaya, etc.
But what surprises me is that no matter QQ Music or NetEase Cloud Music, when using these two apps, I did not find the input bar for searching for music. I thought this function might only be searchable by voice. I wonder if other car enthusiasts have any relevant insights. Of course, for the audio part, you can also use the powerful Siri. For example, if you open QQ Music, carplay will automatically open Q Music, and then you can also request songs by voice. For example, play XXX songs, and when retrieved, they will automatically play song.
Some display effects of CarPlay can be adjusted in the settings.
Which apps are displayed on the car screen can also be set on the mobile phone.
The most powerful thing about CarPlay is not just music and navigation, but that it matches the iPhone with the car in a very high degree of fit. In terms of functions, it is very rich. Compared with Bluetooth connection, it is more stable and the feeling of using it can be summed up in two words: it is really delicious.
But, do you think CarLife and the system that comes with the original car are so useless? No, they also have their own merits.
The original machine does not have so many bells and whistles, it is very simple and neat.
Personally, I think the advantage of the original online service function is that it is more like a car-mounted APP. The navigation supports handwriting and audio supports search. These two points are better than mobile phone interconnection.
As for CarLife, I personally think it is not as rich and convenient as CarPlay, but in terms of localization, CarLife is still pretty good.
For example, in terms of navigation, it can directly prompt photos of destinations
For these very localized functions, such as gas discounts, traffic violation inquiries, food rankings, etc., Baidu CarLife is still good. After all, it is a domestic software company that better understands the needs of Chinese people.
That’s all I’ll share about the car-machine system. I’ll share with you what new experiences I have in the future. Finally, let’s feast your eyes on a wave of beautiful pictures that you can see all at once.
