The School of Music of Qinghai Normal University is a college under the jurisdiction of Qinghai Normal University. It is located at Qinghai Normal University, No. 38, Wusi West Road, Chengxi District, Xining City, Qinghai Province.
The School of Music of Qinghai Normal University is the earliest higher art department established in Qinghai Province. Its predecessor was the Art Department of Qinghai Normal University established in 1961. After the college entrance examination was resumed in 1977, the Art Department was established, covering the two major disciplines of music and fine arts. In February 2003, the Music Department of Qinghai Normal University was separately established on the basis of the Art Department. In October 2016, it was renamed Qinghai Normal University School of Music.
The School of Music currently offers three undergraduate majors: musicology, music performance, and dance. There are five teaching and research sections for vocal music, instrumental music, music theory, dance, and subject education, as well as the Qinghai Normal University Ethnic and Folk Music Research Center. In 2018, a new master's degree program was added, and in 2019, Master of Arts students were admitted. In 2019, I applied for the provincial first-class musicology major and was approved in 2020.
