In 1986, Pavarotti made his first appearance on the Chinese stage. He led the Genoa Opera House to perform Puccini's opera "La Bohème" at the Tianqiao Theater in Beijing. On June 23, 2001, he came to China again, this time with Domingo and Carreras. They held the "Three Tenors" concert in the Forbidden City in Beijing. Support Beijing's bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

In 2005, Pavarotti's global farewell tour in China was held at the Shanghai Grand Stage and the Beijing Capital Stadium. At that time, Pavarotti attached great importance to his farewell tour in China and used the world's top audio equipment in the performance, the only one in China. Pavarotti also said that he will completely end his 44-year glorious singing career after touring the world. From then on, Pavarotti slowly faded out of the performance stage.
