Zhang Weiliang’s personal experience

Zhang Weiliang, a young flute player, was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province in 1957. He loved music since childhood and started learning flute at the age of eight. In 1967, he received careful training and systematic training from the famous flute player Mr. Zhao Songting. In 1977, he was admitted to the China Conservatory of Music and studied under teachers such as Zhao Songting, Feng Zicun, Liu Guanyue, and Wang Tiechui. In 1981, he transferred to the Instrumental Music Department of the Conservatory of Music. He graduated from the China Conservatory of Music in 1982 and later stayed at the school to teach, serving as the main teacher of the flute major at the school.

In 1987, he held a solo flute and flute solo concert at the Beijing Concert Hall. In 1987, the People's Music Publishing House published the introductory music series "How to Play Flute and Xiao". In January 1992, the solo concert "Don't Dream" was held. In 1993, he held a special concert with the famous Japanese shakuhachi player Christophe; he held a special concert with the famous French flutist Fran?ois; and published "Music and Sound" in Taiwan's "Music and Sound" magazine. A perspective on the development of contemporary Chinese flute music culture. In 1994, he published a paper "Breathing Theory and Practice of Flute and Xiao Instruments" in "Chinese Music". 1995 Published the paper "Review and Prospects of Bamboo Flute Teaching in China" in "Chinese Music"; published the paper "Feng Zicun's Flute Performance Art" in Hong Kong Hugo News; published the Music Introduction series "Xiao" by People's Music Publishing House "Performance Method"; at the end of the year, he founded the "Chinese Chamber Orchestra" as its leader; in June, he held a solo concert "Remembering the Flute". In 1996, the introductory music series "Forty Flute Songs" was published by the People's Music Publishing House; he led a group to participate in the 96' Modern Music Festival in France. In 1997, the album "Legend of Xiao", which combines flute and multimedia, was released.

On December 26, 2000, "Zhang Weiliang Flute and Xiao Recital" was held at the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore. In October 2000, he attended the country's first Xun quality appraisal meeting as an expert, which played a huge role in promoting the further development of Xun and Xunle. On January 7, 2001, Mr. Cao Guangping's "Chinese Music - Xun and Flute" symphonic work concert was performed with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra at the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou, China. At the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he served as the composer and orchestrator of the soundtrack for the large-scale group performance "Nature" as well as the flute performer for all the theatrical performances throughout the opening ceremony.
