Introduction to Xi’an Conservatory of Music:

The establishment of Xi’an Conservatory of Music In 1949, its predecessor was the "Music Department of Northwest Art School" founded by Marshal He Long in the Shanxi-Sui border area in 1948. In May of the following year, the school moved westward to Xi'an with the army across the Yellow River, and was named "Music Department of Northwest Military and Political University School of Art"; In 1950, it was renamed "Music Department of Northwest Art Institute".

In 1953, it was adjusted to the "Music Department of Northwest Art College" (a three-year affiliated secondary art school was added); in 1956, the music and art departments were established separately, and the music department was renamed "Xi'an Music College" "; "Xi'an Conservatory of Music" was established in 1960. In 1980, with the approval of the State Council, the organizational structure of "Xi'an Conservatory of Music" was restored and it is the only higher music institution in the northwest region. The current party secretary is An Ning, and the president is Zhao Jiping.

Xi'an Conservatory of Music is an independent professional music school with complete professional categories and strong teaching strength. The college currently has four undergraduate majors: musicology, composition and composition technology theory, music performance, and dance choreography, including vocal music, orchestral music, folk music, composition, musicology, music education, piano, dance choreography, sight-singing and ear training, and basic department* **Ten undergraduate teaching units. There are 4,000 undergraduate students on campus.

The college actively develops postgraduate education and has the right to award master's degrees in all professional disciplines except dance choreography. There are 200 graduate students on campus. The college strives to expand social music education and training. The number of registered students in the training college reaches 4,000, and more than 20,000 people take music exams in the college every year.
