What did Guo Jia die of?

Guo Jia died because he was already sickly and had a poor foundation, or because of acclimatization and serious illness during the northern expedition to Wuhuan.

Guo Jia died young at the age of 38. There are two possible reasons. The first point is that he was already weak and had a poor foundation. The second point is that he was seriously ill during the northern expedition to Wuhuan. In fact, the biggest possibility is that he was infected with the local endemic diseases, and then he became ill very quickly and passed away soon. In fact, he was infected with the plague in the process of marching and fighting. At that time, there was no way to deal with the disease, so he died under the plague. He was also a victim of the plague in Jian 'an for 13 years.

Guo Jia's death not only made Cao Cao lose his intimate confidants, but also made him miss the chance to unify the world. However, before Cao Cao could calm the pain, the cruel god of plague struck again.

Guo Jia's introduction

Guo Jia (17 -27) was born in Yang Zhai, Yingchuan (now Yuzhou, Henan). China was an important counselor of Cao Cao in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.

Guo Jia was ambitious when he was young, and he studied behind closed doors for a long time, so as to make friends with people who are outstanding. In his prime, he worshipped the official Situfu. After the recommendation of Xun Yu, he served as Cao Jun's drink offering. Before the battle of Guandu, he put forward the strategy of pacifying the northern region to Cao Cao, which strengthened Cao Cao's determination to win. After the victory of Guandu, the generals were afraid of Liu Biao's sneak attack, and Guo Jia concluded that he could only talk, not worry. In the twelfth year of Jian 'an (27), he made a plan for Cao Caobei to attack Wuhuan and won a great victory. In the same year, Guo Jia died in Yizhou (now Yixian County, Hebei Province) at the age of 38.

Cao Cao deeply regretted Guo Jia's death, saying, "It's really unforgettable to remember Jia Xun", and praised him for surpassing his peers in political and military knowledge, and being his "odd assistant".
