The music of Yu opera is rich and colorful, and the singing style is Banqiang style. The lyrics are easy to understand and are mostly seven-character sentences or cross sentences. It has a unique board structure and a relatively complete music program. It can be divided into four major categories: Adagio, Flowing Board, Erba Board, and Fly Board. The accompaniment instruments of Henan Opera are divided into civil and military scenes. There are two strings, three strings and Yueqin, which are called Laosan Shou or Sanxian Shou. Five major schools of Henan Opera
1. Xiangfu Diao? The style is rough, high-pitched, exciting, simple, mellow, euphemistic and bright. Representative figures: Chen Suzhen, Yan Lipin, Sang Zhenjun, Zhang Xiuyun, Song Guiling, Wang Xiulan.
2. Henan West Diao (Xifu Diao). The sound is slightly Qinqiang, beautiful and melodious, with clear articulation and easy listening. It is suitable for playing pessimism and indignation, and the music is deep and tragic. Representative figures: Chang Xiangyu, Cui Lantian, Wang Ershun, Li Shujian.
3. Henan East Diao. Generous and passionate. Female voices have more coloratura and are bright and pretty, while male voices are upright and high-spirited. Representative figures: "Red Face King" Tang Yucheng, Zhao Yiting, Ma Jinfeng, Li Sizhong, Liu Zhonghe.
4. Shahe Diao. Lively, tactful, passionate and loud. It is suitable to express not only a happy and comfortable mood, but also a generous and heroic atmosphere. It spreads in Huaibei and Shahe River basins. People in Anhui call it Bangzi Opera and Huaibei Bangzi. Representative figures: Liang Zhenqi, Liu Fayin, Tang Xicheng, An Jinfeng.
5. Modern tone. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yang Lanchun integrated other voices of Yu Opera to form a new singing style. It is easy to understand, similar to folk music, cheerful and lively. Representative play: "Chaoyanggou", an absolutely classic modern play of Yu Opera.
