I haven’t watched variety shows or TV series for a long time. It seems like there is nothing to arouse my emotions.
But there is a variety show "Summer of the Band" that gave me a big surprise this summer. It made me burst into tears many times and start thinking about life.
Mr. Liu and I watched this show together and discussed it a lot. After watching it, I felt like I was back in my youth.
Now that the show is almost over, I have really checked it out several times. This time the show team will not pay advertising fees, and I also want to give them a call.
I pay little attention to bands. When I first came to Shanghai, I had a high school classmate who liked to listen to offline performances. I went to offline livehouses with him to listen to some band performances. I also went to the Strawberry Music Festival.
As a novice, through this program, I learned a lot of professional knowledge, knowing what punk, reggae...
▲"Summer of the Band" official Bo Xiao Science Popularization
The most commendable thing about the program "Summer of the Band" is undoubtedly that the program team brought together various capable bands, but have always been tepid, and gave them a good A platform to display your talents.
Some people may say that they don’t need such an opportunity. They can shine wherever they have the ability, and their highlight moment will always come.
But time often passes quickly. Just like Peng Lei, the lead singer of "New Pants Band" said: "It's a bit sad because everyone is still very ordinary until now. Although the mentality is much better than in the 1990s, But, everyone is old.”
In any case, although it is a bit late, opportunities will always be left to those who have been on the road.
What aspects of this program touched me?
While watching, I found that these bands are too poor. It does not mean that they have no money, but that it is difficult to support themselves based on their dreams.
For example, click#15, relying on the band, earns less than 1,000 yuan per month on average. Their lead singer Ricky is now working as a music director in a park (Aranya). He used to work in the catering department. The music director, the show became popular, so he removed the words "catering department".
Two years ago, Ricky was still selling pianos to support himself.
I also want to say that Yang Ce is so handsome and Ricky has great stage charm and is a born star.
Hedgehog, one of my favorite bands, their song "The Train Sails Beyond the Clouds, Dreams Rest in the Sky" has been played many times, and I actually cried more than once.
Hedgehog’s guitarist and lead singer Zijian graduated from Beihang University and is a programmer. Drummer Shi Lu joked, “All the programmers in Beijing are Zijian’s colleagues.”
Over the years, Zijian has changed jobs many times for the band. The longest time he worked was at Sina, where he was given a 2-month vacation. It is said that he resigned again this time in order to participate in "Summer of the Band".
Peng Lei also worked as a MV director, and "QQ Love" is his work.
He held a suit in his hand and told everyone in front of the camera that the suit looked very much like the work clothes of the "Lianjia" employees. When he bought a house, he found out that it would cost a lot of agency fees.
So he thought of a way and applied for "Lianjia" in order to save the agency fee. Anyone who can come up with such an idea must be a "wonder" among geniuses, right?
Wei Wei, the keyboard player of the tour band, said that when he first started making music, people at record companies were unwilling to pay attention to them. There was no place for their works, and they were always rejected by record companies.
So a few people came up with a way to pretend to be food delivery people and sneak into the company. With their hard work, the current "tour group" was formed.
It is indeed exciting to be able to accomplish something in life that has little hope.
Almost every band member has other jobs. Mr. Miss’s Liu Lian is a planner at an advertising company, and Penicillin’s bass is an operator at ByteDance (Today’s Toutiao belongs to them).
I admire them very much. They all have a down-to-earth attitude towards life, and persisting in their dreams is not an empty talk.
This reminds me of Assistant Qihe. We have been working together for almost 4 years.
Objectively speaking, we are a start-up company. At that time, when we cooperated, I was still a freelancer, and she had too many choices to choose from.
She graduated from the School of Journalism of Renmin University. She scored nearly 140 points in the Chinese language test of the college entrance examination. She is very smart and very efficient. She made a request to me: not to socialize too much at work.
Why did she give up such a good job within the system? Because she writes novels in her spare time. She had written about The Domineering President before, but she felt it was not what she wanted. Now she is writing other stories.
I joked with her many times: "One day, when you become popular, I will definitely write an article. You will be my assistant, so you can gain some popularity."
Around me There are many writers who are doing other jobs before the opportunity comes. I have been writing as a part-timer for three years, and there are even longer periods.
Dreams are too expensive, we are very poor, but we all persist, right? I believe that one day, our dreams can come true.
I also like this group of pragmatic people who live seriously and pursue poetry and distance.
I just wrote about some of the difficulties in their lives and the helplessness of persisting in their dreams, but they lived like the middle-aged people I wanted. Many people are working, not trapped in a miserable life, and are still playing in bands.
Why does this show start low and go high?
The answer is simple, these people are charming and real.
Even in the face of great pressure, there is no decadence or giving up in their music. Zijian of the Hedgehog Band wrote "The Train Sails Beyond the Clouds, Dreams Rest in the Sky". Even though he wrote this song when the band was facing disbandment and was about to collapse, he still sang: A generation will eventually grow old. But there are always people who are young.
I admire the band very much, I like Gao Hu and Ma Dong very much, it is very fun, they are a band that is alive and well, and they are the finale of major music festivals. But I also worked hard and went to many, many places on tour.
They also experienced a difficult period. In 2008, the band was on the verge of disbanding. In 2007, Zhang Jing left the band without saying goodbye. In 2008, Gao Hu went through some separation again and left Beijing for Yunnan alone. However, he insisted on recruiting people from the band and made this album "I Don't Stop My Music". Zhang Huo.
Gao Hu said that when he talks about this experience, he is not reminiscing about the bitterness and sweetness, but rather wants to say, I chose to do this, so I don’t regret doing this.
Listening to their music, I will gain strength. There are many helplessness in life, which reminds me of middle age. Do I still hold on to my dreams and live the way I want?
When you see them, stick to the things you like, such as writing. No matter how the platform changes or the format changes, I will insist on writing content that I like and recognize.
Regarding hot news, I will only write about it unless I encounter something that I really want to write about and it touches me deeply. I don’t write about it just for the sake of chasing it.
?Write it at the end?
In one adaptation competition, Penicillin adapted Pu Shu's "Newboy". When Zhang Yadong was commenting, he burst into tears without saying a few words, "Everyone We are all looking forward to the year 2000, thinking that everything will get better, but in the end, we are old.”
This song should give Zhang Yadong a different feeling, the power of time. How powerful. Twenty years ago, he and Pu Shu were the "new boys" in the song. Now they have gray hair, sitting under the stage, looking at another group of children.
Also, Zhang Yadong mentioned that it has been a long time since he listened to Pu Shu's song. When he heard this song, he remembered the time when we were making music together when we were children. It was so fast. It was so simple at that time. The situation is now unlikely to exist.
The theme of one issue of "Summer of the Band" is "Ideal World". When New Pants sang "Life is Hot Because of You", Zhang Yadong said to Peng Lei: "I understand what your song says. , I understand too.”
I was also very sad when I saw this place, thinking of many things in the past, how life has become like this when I grow up. When youth is gone, what should we insist on?
If you have dreams, you will shine. Even if real life is a mess, we still have to have light in our hearts.
Have you followed this show?
Have you thought of anything? What were your dreams when you were young? Still insisting?
