1. To shine; to be bright: "There is 曜 when the sun rises";
2. The sun, moon and stars are all called "曜" "The seven stars of the sun, moon, fire, water, wood, gold and earth are collectively called "Qi Yao". In the old days, they were used to refer to the seven days of a week respectively. For example, "Sun Yao" is Sunday, "Moon Yao" is Monday, and so on. . This title is still used in Japan and South Korea.
