Shishi Yinjiang Overseas Chinese School was formerly known as Shishi Yinjiang Overseas Chinese Middle School. Xiangxian raised funds and donated money to build the primary school. In 1976, a junior high school was added. In 1988, it was split into two schools, Yinjiang Primary School and Yinjiang Overseas Chinese Middle School. In 2007, it was reintegrated into a municipal government-run nine-year consistent school, hence the current school name.
The school is currently a Fujian Provincial Compulsory Education Standardized School, a Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences Charter Construction Experimental School, a Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences Research Participating School on Differentiated Teaching Projects, and a Shishi Volleyball Training Network School. It has been rated as an advanced unit of the national "zero crime school", an advanced unit of Fujian Province for the implementation of "Forging Standards", Quanzhou Civilized School, Quanzhou Traffic Safety School, Shishi Civilized School, Shishi Quality Education Qualified School, Shishi Sports Titles such as Advanced Unit for Work and Advanced School for Regular Management of Middle School Teaching in Shishi City. The school has been awarded the Excellent Middle School Teaching Quality Award for many years in a row. The comprehensive evaluation of teaching quality in the 2016 High School Entrance Examination ranked first in Shishi City. The school's student volleyball team has participated in the Quanzhou City Games and the Quanzhou City Annual Volleyball Championship many times and achieved good results; Won the first prize of the junior high school group of South Shaolin Wuzuquan aerobics in Quanzhou primary and secondary schools; won the first prize of the middle school group of the first, second and third faculty and staff fun games in Shishi City, and won the championship in the second one.
