What folk song and dance music does Qiuci Music refer to today?

Qiuci music and dance is a kind of dance music originated from the western regions in ancient China. Qiuci music uses seven tones and a variety of modes. Su Zhipo promoted the development of Qiuci mode in the Central Plains. Qiuci's "five-Dan and seven-tone" music rhythm impacted the rigid music system of the court and injected new vitality into China traditional music. The "general cover tune" in Qiuci music has been popular in the Central Plains for a long time and still has influence among the people.

Qiuci was a big country among the thirty-six western regions in Han Dynasty, with developed economy and prosperous culture. It had frequent contacts with the Central Plains since BC. When Emperor Xuandi of the Han Dynasty, King Jiangbin of Qiuci married Princess Wusun, and later Jiangbin took the princess to Chang 'an to congratulate him. Emperor Xuandi of the Han Dynasty gave him "riding a flag and drums, singing dozens of people". After that, Jiang Bin "came to congratulate him several times" and returned to Qiuci to "rule the palace, make a tour of Wei Zhou, call in and out, and bump the bells and drums, just like the Han family's instrument". This major reform has a profound impact on the development of Qiuci's music and dance art. Extended information

During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, in the great exchange and integration of culture and ethnic groups, Qiuci culture further developed, and the music art became increasingly prosperous, becoming a music and dance resort in the western regions. Fu Jian, the former leader of the Qin Dynasty, sent Lv Guangping to Qiuci to bring a large number of Qiuci musicians to the Central Plains, thus opening the prelude to the large-scale eastward spread of Qiuci music and dance.

By the Sui Dynasty, three different forms of Qiuci music had been popular in the mainland of China. The Music of Sui Shu recorded that there were three pieces of Qiuci in the West, Qiuci in the Qi Dynasty and Tuqiuci in the Sui Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty was the golden age of Qiuci's music and dance. The poet Yuan Zhen's Poem of Lianchang Palace in the Tang Dynasty said, "Wandering all over Liangzhou, the colorful Qiuci continued."
