Music archeology is an emerging branch of musicology. Its research scope
is both related to and different from that of archeology. The archaeological study of musical cultural relics was first considered as a branch of archeology and coexisted with the disciplines of art archeology, silk archeology, ceramic archeology, and bronze archeology.
It’s called music archeology. Contemporary music archeology in China is based on different research perspectives. Although its source also comes from the archaeological research on musical cultural relics, its actual content has gone beyond the scope of archeology.
