The magical elf (Hippo) from Germany
Prussler is a famous contemporary German children's literature writer. He has won the Deutsche Youth Book Award four times and the European Youth Book Award once. Award, and was nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Literary Award.
What we are introducing now are three light and bright novellas by Prussler: The Little Witch, The Little Ghost, and The Little Water Spirit.
The Little Witch
Once upon a time there was a witch. She was one hundred and twenty-seven years old, but for a witch, she was not yet an adult! So she was banned from attending the annual witches' grand ball. But the little witch wanted to participate so much, so she did a stupid thing that underage little girls often do - she went secretly. As you can imagine, she was severely punished and warned that she must be a good witch in the next year, otherwise...
The little witch is a smart witch, and she decided to accept the big Challenge of witches and old witches, become a great witch in one year.
How to do it? You must know that the little witch is not an honest child. She will ride on a broom and spit at the people below. Oh my, this is really bad. Maybe it is because of these little problems that she slowly turns into a little bad witch. And the witch magic she mastered was really not that good. She was clearly chanting a spell to make it rain, but everything fell from the sky, but no rain! It's really easier said than done. But don't worry, the little witch is a kind-hearted child, and she also has a smart and kind helper - the crow.
With an urgent desire, and with the help of the smart crow, the little witch changed a lot this year: first, she increased her daily study time by one hour, so, one year later She was proficient in every word and every magic on the magic tree: in addition, she also helped many people in a unique way of witches. She helped the elderly, children and poor people who were in great need of help. Every day, she would summarize the day's gains with the crow. Every day, she and the crow were very satisfied.
A year has passed quickly, and time always flies when you are facing challenges. The little witch once again stood in front of the big witch and the old witch. Is she a good witch? How does the story end? I won’t tell you anything here. What I can tell you is that things are not as simple as the little witch thought!
Little Ghost
A story about a beautiful wish that brings trouble to the little ghost himself and the citizens.
For hundreds of years, the little ghost has been living in the old castle. He is covered in white and always carries the key that can open all the locks in the world. The little ghost belongs to the night, and even his friend belongs to the night - the owl. Every day, when the clock strikes twelve o'clock, the little ghost will wake up from his dream and roam in the old castle and in the fields. Every day he will visit his old friend Owl's house. His friend is also very old. Well-informed and resourceful, they sat together in the biggest tree and told stories about everything they had experienced in the past. The little ghost never regretted the things he had done, because he was kind-hearted and very simple. Harmful to people, but also helped people drive away invaders. He always felt happy and content.
However, as time passed, the little ghost had a beautiful wish: How great it would be if one day he could walk under the sun! You must know that the little ghost always appears between twelve o'clock and one o'clock in the middle of the night. He has never seen the brilliant world! He told his good friend about this wish, and the owl used his experience accumulated over the long years to advise the little ghost to give up this idea, because he would definitely regret it. But friends are friends after all, and the owl still gave the little ghost some ideas, but no matter what he did, the little ghost would get very sleepy every midnight, and he couldn't wake up at noon! It seems that the little ghost cannot realize his wish.
But just when the little ghost was about to give up, one day he suddenly woke up at noon! He finally got his wish! For the first time since he became a ghost, he saw the bright sunshine and saw that the world was not gray, but a brilliant color! He was so excited and happy!
But people didn’t think so. Some of them were scared, some were surprised, and some were simply crazy, because the bright sun at noon turned the little ghost into darkness! Think about it, in a peaceful city, a dark and erratic shadow would appear and appear at noon, how much chaos it would cause! Little ghosts kept appearing in various places, and there were screams everywhere in the city.
The little ghost's originally harmless wish inadvertently brought great trouble to himself and mankind: he got lost in the city and could not return home, and he could no longer live freely Wandering, because people are talking about him everywhere, and people everywhere want to catch him: and the innocence of the little ghost has brought a lot of trouble to people, he frightened everyone, and single-handedly destroyed the entire The celebration was ruined, no wonder people wanted to catch him!
Now the little ghost regrets it so much. He really shouldn’t have had that idea in the first place! The old owl's words came true!
How was the matter resolved? How did the little ghost get out of trouble?
All I can tell you is that three children helped him and found the owl through the children's little ghosts. The owl came up with an idea and asked them to ask the person who repaired the big clock for the municipal government. I won’t tell you what Zhongren has to do with this matter. You’d better find the answer in the book yourself.
Little Shuijing
The style of Little Shuijing’s story is very different from the above two. It is more like a very beautiful and romantic prose, which makes us read the story of Little Shuijing. While reading the story of a year's life, you can appreciate the changing seasons and beautiful scenery around the pond, as well as the infinite charm of fairy tales and folklore.
The story begins with the birth of the little water spirit. His birth brought infinite happiness to the calm pond. In order to celebrate his birth, a party of water spirits was held at the bottom of the pond. Everyone held a Drink freely from the cup (as for food, only Shuijing likes to eat it), play cheerful music, and wish the little Shuijing good health and happiness.
The little guy is growing up very quickly and is very happy. Accompanying him are his father who loves him very much and teaches his children well, his mother who loves him very much, and a grumbling, very eccentric and very old carp who also loves the little water spirit very much. Under their love and care, the little water spirit grew up very quickly, much faster than human children. He quickly got to know all the fish, aquatic plants and insects in the pond, saw the interesting life of humans around the pond, and learned to always keep his feet moist (which is completely opposite to humans). After a beating from his father He learned never to do stupid things for the sake of temporary pleasure. In addition, he also learned to help his friends under the inspiration of the old carp. Of course, his swimming skills are also improving every day. He also made friends with human children and tasted baked stones with them (hey, what is that).
As spring passes and autumn comes, the seasons pass, the scenery changes, and the little water spirit grows up quickly. I think the most unforgettable thing about him in the first year of his life (and the one that left the deepest impression on me) was that day when his father took him to swim to the water for the first time at night, and took him to play music with the water nymphs. Let’s dance the rice dance and quietly watch the beautiful rising moon together. When I read this paragraph, I couldn’t help but think of the scene when the daughter of the sea floated to the surface for the first time to watch the beautiful scenery.
Then, winter comes and the pond is frozen. The little water spirit will sleep quietly under the thick ice with his parents, waiting expectantly for the arrival of spring...

The content and style of these three stories by Prussler are different, which fully demonstrates his ability to control words and imagination. When we read his stories, we can notice that although the protagonists in his works are characters from myths and legends, their character traits are no different from ours. This is the commonality of all outstanding children's literature writers. The naughtiness of the little witch, the simplicity of the little ghost, and the happy childhood of the little water spirit, aren't they the reflection of ourselves? It's just that our common story is full of divine colors in Prussler's writings. We can only envy this!
In addition, like the best writers, Prussler's characters are not only vivid as the main characters, but also the supporting characters are equally interesting, with the nagging earnestness of the wise crow and the wisdom of the wily owl. And dignity, the weird old carp's love for the little water spirit all left a deep impression on us. Like a chef who is good at condiments, Prussler uses these supporting characters to add infinite fun to his story.
