Tianmian Flower Drum Opera, formerly known as Mianyang Flower Drum Opera, also known as Zhonglu Flower Drum Opera, is one of the three major local operas in Hubei. It was formed in the Tianmen and Mianyang areas during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. In 1954, it was renamed It is called "Tianmian Flower Drum Opera" and was officially named "Jingzhou Flower Drum Opera" by the Cultural Bureau of Jingzhou Administrative Office in May 1981. In 2005, it was renamed "Hubei Flower Drum Opera" by the Hubei Department of Culture. In 2006, it was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
