Mortician - "Chainsaw Dismemberment" [Relapse 1999] The death band Mortician, composed of Will Rahmer and Roger Beaujard, is a super lover of horror movies, and almost every song in all albums is accompanied by music taken from It starts with samples from various horror movies, and sometimes the length of the sample is even longer than the song itself. The wails of women who were brutally slaughtered in cold blood inevitably sounded loudly. As the victim gradually loses his life force, a group of crazy and inhuman compact high-speed drumming bursts out, paired with a guitar melody as low as hell, and mixed with a grunt that is deeper than other sounds, making it look like a crazy massacre. It's live-like, with bloodstains and pieces of meat scattered everywhere - this is the music of Mortician, and it can even be used directly as the soundtrack of a horror movie without any changes. Will and Roger admit that they are extreme lovers and collectors of horror movies, and the cabinets at home are filled with countless horror movies of all kinds. It can be seen from the titles of the albums they have released. When I first listened to this album, I was not only terrified but also depressed. I thought this band is so damn cruel! I later played it to some friends, and they all said it was the most brutal music they had ever heard.
Goblin – "Suspiria: Original Soundtrack" [Cinevox reissue; 1977] "Suspiria" is the most famous work of Italian horror film master Dario Argento. This is a film with a very unique style and has been called the most elegant horror film in the history of cinema. An American girl arrives at a ballet school in Europe and is greeted by a series of murders. The Italian master's use of music, blurred light, and lenses brought an unprecedented new experience to the audience. And Goblin's music can be said to be as scary as the movie. The distorted guitar, gloomy keyboards, and ghostly and weird atmosphere all make the soundtrack of "Suspiria" just as scary even without the movie scenes. This acoustic album is favored by many metal fans because it is scarier than the scariest albums by Black Sabbath or King Diamond.
BBC Radiophonic Workshop – "BBC Sound Effects, Vol.13 – Death and Horror" [BBC; 1977] This is a recording suggested and produced by Mike Harding in 1977, said to be intended for theater or film sound material, but I doubt any movie could use such a terrifying sound! The first half of the album is called "Execution and Torture: 1. Beheading 2. Beheading 3. Sawing off the head" and so on. Just looking at these names is scary enough. The second half also includes sound sample materials such as "Monsters and Animals" and "Grave Digging". It's unabashed, naked horror, designed to scare you into a cold sweat.
Bright Death Now - "Greatest Death" [CMI 1998] Roger Karmanik is not only the boss of the dark industrial label COLD MEAT INDUSTRY (CMI), but also the chief creator of the terrible industrial death band Bright Death Now. Bright Death Now is much more extreme than early industrial bands such as TG. It is a truly terrifying band, a killing machine, and the young/frail-minded should not get close to it. Bright Death Now attempts to use the thickest and distorted noise to show the audience the ugliest heart of human beings. The music of Bright Death Now is a mixture of harsh noise and chaotic industrial sounds/monotonous rhythm and distorted radio.
Sharp, cruel, and full of blood, this is something that no traditional death band can express. .Bright Death Now is indeed too extreme, and the horror it brings is not "illusory". I think listening to BDN's works is a physiological reflection rather than a psychological aspect, which can directly lead to the onset of mania and schizophrenia. Other music concepts are keen to find a symbol for things, even if they are extreme such as bloody death and black metal, they also make death an image and a metaphor for the audience to feel. The early extreme TG, SPK, WHITEHOUSE, etc. have all changed Actively look for intermediaries with your own attitude. With only Bright Death Now, its music is both a means and an end in itself. Industrial death does not explain to you the cruelty or beauty of death, but directly harms the audience. It is itself a means of death. Letting you die is the only purpose. So other external packaging explanations are secondary, as soon as you play it, the atrocities begin, so why do you listen?
Diamanda Galas - "Schrei Those terrifying soundstages will stab you hard in the chest. It was unimaginable that such a sound came from a human throat, and that it was female. Those hoarse throat sounds, continuous bel canto singing, and the "songs" gathered together by countless super high notes are enough to dwarf any death singing that claims to be "extreme music". All you can think of in the darkness are dark morgues and diseases that are simply incurable... Its ruthless exposure of darkness and naked narration of death have made many death metal/gothic The music seems pale and weak in expression. Never listen to this kind of music late at night, because people late at night can easily be reminded of emotions and fears that are difficult to remember during the day. Don't treat Diamanda's music as some kind of game for the brave. It's very dangerous.
Current93 - "Dogs Blood Rising" [Laylah 1984] This is the most terrifying album of Current93. Many of the songs use processed Catholic hymns as background sound effects. The effect is extremely heretical and mysterious, which makes it very confusing. People shudder. It's like an evil wizard is doing it. If you have listened to Current93, you may be able to describe him in many musical forms, such as: GOTHIC, DEATH FOLK, EXPERIMENTAL or even RELIGIOUS MUSIC (religious music). But no one statement can accurately express the ever-changing musical experience of David Tibet and his band. From the rough and evil of "DOGS BLOOD RISING" to the sweet beauty of "ALL THE PRETTY LITTLE HORSES". CURRENT 93 has been far away from the mainstream area from the beginning. Wandering in the dark wilderness. Through the music of Current 93, we can have a deeper understanding of the inner world of creator David Tibet. The deviant, bloody violence shown in the band's music, and the doomsday scene of the sinking of Jerusalem revealed in the text, are actually the distorted dream responses of people in the real industrial society to the cruel life. The advancement of industrial technology and the increasing amount of information cannot solve the emptiness and loneliness of modern humans. People live as if they have lost their souls. Perhaps only through the power of religion can you find your soul.
