Suppose we have an audio file in our computer, whether it is mp3, wma or wav, which is usually a song. One of the songs we heard included the original singer and accompaniment. The characteristics of original singing can be roughly divided into two types: 1. The sound image position of human voice is in the center of the whole sound field (balanced distribution of left and right channels); 2. The sound frequency is concentrated in the intermediate frequency and high frequency parts. After reading these, we know that we should eliminate the "equivalent sound of left and right channels and the sound whose frequency is concentrated in the middle and high frequency parts". Second, the basic method of eliminating the original song with Cool Edit Pro
"Eliminating the original song" is what we usually see as "silencing".
The method of eliminating the original song with CE is actually very simple, but you still need to work hard to improve its sound quality.
the "mute" we are talking about here is only an independent function in the CE menu. If you choose and use it, you will get immediate results. But in order to get better results, more detailed audio processing and adjustment are needed. OK, here are the specific implementation steps.
1. first, enter CE's "monorail" editing mode interface. File → Open to call in an audio file. Take Yu Chengqing's Destiny as an example. The file name is Destiny. mp3.
2. after turning on the audio, select effects → waveform amplitude → channel remix, and in the opened window, select "Vocal Cut" in "preset" as shown in figure 1, keep the default settings on the dialog box, and click the "OK" button. After CE processing, I got the accompaniment music of Destiny. 3. The functional principle of "Vocal Cut" is to eliminate all sounds (including human voice and part of accompaniment) in the center of the sound field. Therefore, whether this function can only eliminate the original sound depends mainly on the source of the original audio, whether there are instruments and voices placed in the center of the sound field before mixing, and if there are, they will be eliminated together with this function, resulting in great attenuation of sound quality. For example, there are "master sound", "BASS" and so on in the center of the sound field. If the audio source of the original song is the above, it is still recommended not to use this function, so that the voice will not be eliminated, but all the accompanying music will be eliminated. 4, well, let's listen to your own results! If you listen carefully, you will find that the accompaniment is different from the original tape. The original singing voice in the accompaniment tape has become very "virtual", but the original singing voice can still be heard vaguely. In fact, this is the so-called "silencing" effect (it is impossible to absolutely eliminate the original singing). This accompaniment effect is good as the background music of karaoke, and it is enough to cover up the original voice when you sing. If you are not a friend who asks for the original accompaniment very much, this should be able to go into battle. 5. In addition, the audio quality in the whole accompaniment band has declined, and what we hear is the accompaniment sound that lacks three-dimensional sense (similar to mono audio), and there may be some "hissing" sounds, and the low-frequency part has also been weakened a lot. Anyway, it sounds bad. Maybe you are very dissatisfied with this effect now, so let's learn some advanced processing skills. Third, Cool Edit Pro eliminates the original singing advanced
Let's first summarize the results that we are not satisfied with. First, the voice of the original singer seems to be not clean enough; Second, there is a "hissing" noise; Third, the stereo effect is reduced; Fourth, the low-frequency effect is weakened. The following four problems are corrected one by one. 1. Clean up the original vocals
First, open the "Destiny takes a hand .mp3" original vocal tape in the CE monorail. Select Effects → Waveform Amplitude → Channel remix, and select Vocal Cut in Presets in the window that opens. Previously, we used the default value. Now, let's try to adjust the parameters on the left. See (Figure 2). In the process of adjustment, you can click the "through" check box at any time to compare the original sound. There are two "reverse" check boxes on the left. By default, one of them has a "√" in front of it. Now we cancel the "√" and the sound becomes drier, but the sound field becomes wider and the three-dimensional sense is enhanced, but the low frequency is reduced more. Perhaps this effect is suitable for some songs, but it is not very good for some songs. When dealing with it, we still have to rely on everyone to debug it slowly and carefully. If this method is not good for the song you want to deal with, naturally keep the default settings.
By default, this dialog box is in the state of eliminating the original sound to the greatest extent, so there is basically no way to eliminate the original sound more cleanly. The songs sung by different people have different effects of eliminating the original songs. Some will be better, while others are far from ideal. However, we can optimize this processing through the four sliders in the "Channel remix" dialog box. Because the final effect is greatly influenced by the original soundtrack, there are no fixed parameters for the adjustment here. Only when the slider is slightly moved to the center point, the stereo effect will be more obvious, but the human voice will also become more obvious. In terms of stereo and vocal cancellation, we have to compromise with one side. Here, the processed result is saved as "Destiny takes a hand (accompaniment) .mp3". 2. Eliminating the "sizzling" sound
The noise comes from two places, and here we mean the noise in the accompaniment. First, your original soundtrack has been lossy-compressed (such as mp3 or wma coding), and it will naturally appear after "channel remixing". Second, clean air and teeth sounds have not been eliminated. Therefore, if conditions permit, the CD audio track can be directly saved to the hard disk in wav format for further processing. To eliminate the hissing sound, CE's "equalizer" function is generally used. First, tune in the accompaniment "destiny takes a hand (accompaniment) .mp3" just after silencing, and select Effect → Filter → Parameter Equalizer. This "parametric equalizer" is not very intuitive for beginners. Friends who don't know much about equalizer here can also choose to use "graphic equalizer" to adjust, and its operation interface is much more intuitive and easier than "parametric equalizer". Here we use the "parameter equalizer" to eliminate the "hissing" sound in accompaniment. The function of "equalizer" is to enhance or attenuate the sound intensity of a certain frequency band or several frequency bands. The hissing sound is usually around 8Hz, so we will attenuate the sound intensity in this area. See (Figure 3).
this process also helps to further eliminate human voices. For example, the frequency response of human voice is mainly intermediate frequency, and we can appropriately attenuate the intermediate frequency part. However, the sound of air and teeth is mainly above 6 Hz-18 Hz, which can also be attenuated according to the actual situation, but it will lose the clarity of accompaniment. Equalizers are generally used for repair and optimization, and the elimination of human voices depends on "effect" → "waveform amplitude" → "channel remixing". Don't forget to save the file when it's finished here! 3. Stereo effect enhancement
"Stereo effect enhancement" is a professional treatment method. Because it covers a wide range, here we only briefly introduce the method of "Stereo enhancement". You can use the "stereo effect enhancement plug-in" (for example, "waves plug-in effect" is a good processing plug-in. ) or use professional "stereo enhancement software" to make appropriate adjustments, or you can add some reverberation effects appropriately. 4, low-frequency compensation
"Destiny takes a hand (accompaniment) .mp3" is the result of eliminating the original singing and "hissing", but its audio has been attenuated a lot, so it is necessary to compensate for the low frequency. We can use CE's "equalizer" here, but don't use this file that has been "silenced" because its low-frequency effect has been attenuated. If gain processing is carried out, the effect will definitely not be as good as that of the original vocal cord, so we use the original vocal cord for processing. Take out the low frequency part of the original tape as compensation for accompaniment. Now, tune in the original "Destiny takes a hand. mp3" tape, and select Effects → Filters → Parameter Equalizer. After entering the Parameter Equalizer, adjust the parameters as shown in Figure 4. Click "OK" and immediately process it, so that you can get the low-frequency part in the original soundtrack of "Destiny", and save this file as "Bass.mp3" for the time being. (Again, it is best to save in lossless wav format from the beginning, so that the final result will be better. ) 5. Multi-track synthesis
Needless to say, you must be familiar with it. Here, first insert the "Destiny's Hand (accompaniment) .mp3" of mute OK into the first track; "Bass. MP3" is inserted into the second track, and the mixed condensation is OK. If you feel that the volume of the two tracks is not very balanced, you can adjust the volume of the two tracks by "adjusting the volume of the audio block" under multiple tracks before mixing, and then save the mixing until you listen to the accompaniment properly.
