Huanglong Palace was originally a Taoist cave and blessed place. It was called "Jinjing Cave" before the Tang Dynasty. According to legend, in the Liang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, a yellow dragon broke out of a hole and then overturned with the force of the dragon, hence the name. The Huanglong Palace has a diameter of 14.8 meters and a vertical depth of 37 meters. The wind blows at the bottom of the cave and is chilly to the bones. There are many stone carvings on the cliffs around the cave, including authentic works by Huang Tingjian, Su Dongpo, Du Mu, Zhao Mengfu and other famous figures. Among them, the four characters "Huanglong Cave Heaven" carved on the huge stone "Zhangren Peak" are the names of Zhang Yuchu, the celestial master of the Han Dynasty in the 43rd generation of the Ming Dynasty. The inscription shows that Huanglongshan Mao Palace belongs to the Tianshi Taoist sect.
Beautiful myths and legends
A long time ago, there was no rain in Huzhou for two or three years. The vegetation and crops were all dead, and there was no water at all. The life of the local people was difficult. Pray for rain everywhere. People came to Baique Temple to worship Guanyin and ask Guanyin to help bring rain. She was very kind and asked the Jade Emperor to help make it rain. The Jade Emperor said that Baique did not arrange for dragons to govern that area, so it could not rain. Guanyin came to Taihu Lake. There was an eel in it, but he had not yet become an immortal. As the saying goes, "It takes a thousand years to become a dragon, and it takes ten thousand years to become an immortal", he did not have time. Guanyin told him that he had to help no matter what. After hearing this, the eel decided to help her. Then I looked everywhere for water, but couldn't find it.
One day, he found a house and found that there was an ink pool in the courtyard of the house (because the ink produced by a good inkstone will not dry). So he decided to use the ink in the inkwell to make rain fall. It rained, and the water on the ground was black. The water went into people's toilets. They thought it was a sin. Tiantian found out about this and found out that the eel had violated Tianzhi, so he wanted to kill him. The eel asked Guanyin what he should do. Guanyin said it didn't matter. On that day, you will come to me. The eel asked Guanyin how to go to her place, and Guanyin told him to just walk along the south bank of Taihu Lake and go up to the white spot.
On that day, the eel saw a white rock on the mountain. Thinking it had arrived, he came out of the ground. The thunder god in the sky saw him and killed him with a flash of lightning. The eel said to Guanyin: "I did good things for the people, but now I am suffering. After my death, I will stink the local people to death." Guanyin told him not to do this. After he died and dried, she would build him a Dragon King Temple and a Dragon King Palace. So to this day, there is a saying that eels will neither rot nor stink after death. The hole where the eel comes out of the ground is the Huanglong Cave.
Unique underground music room
Huanglong Palace is famous for having a "Dragon Palace Music Room", which can be said to be "the music of nature, unique in the region". "Dragon Palace Music Room" is a group of exquisite and unique rockery stones. It is composed of nearly a hundred drooping stone bars. The length, thickness, thickness and width of these stone bars vary. When tapped lightly with an object, the amplitude and amplitude of the stone bars will be produced. The frequency and sound quality are different. When the melodious "ringing stone music" is played, it is very similar to ancient chime music.
These stones are all native limestone, which was gradually formed through millions of years of turbulent groundwater erosion during geological structural changes. Why are these stone bars drooping? It turns out that Huanglong Mountain is made of limestone, and the plain to the east of the mountain was once part of Taihu Lake. In ancient times, the lake water rose and fell frequently. The groundwater in the cave, which is hydraulically connected to the lake, continues to clean and dissolve the limestone as the summer rises and the winter dries up. Over time, the flexible water takes advantage of the gap to slowly hollow out the rigid limestone in the cave, leaving the remaining stone bodies Gradually, the interlocking state of the canines is formed, which is the reason why the ringstone is formed.
