Career
Wu Lecheng, who studied classical music, started learning piano at the age of 9, and learned trumpet from Mr. Huang Rizhao in the Music Office at the age of 10. At the age of 13, he majored in trumpet with Mr. Henry Nowak and minored in piano with Ms. Luo Naishin at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, becoming the first junior music course student of the academy. During the same period, he also participated in different wind bands and symphony orchestras, and served as the principal trumpeter of the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Ng Lok-shing attended Union Primary School in primary school, Wong Wat South Secondary School in Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in secondary school, and later transferred to and graduated from Diocesan Boys' School. While studying at Diocesan Boys' School, he participated in the school's symphony orchestra and various choirs, and won numerous awards in inter-school music festival competitions. In 1996, he graduated from the Berkeley Conservatory of Music in Boston, USA, with a double bachelor's degree in music production and film scoring.
After returning to Hong Kong in the same year, he joined Star Factory under the recommendation of Zhang Yiyi. He was fortunate to work with senior music industry veterans such as Huang Weinian, Zhao Zengxi and Xu Yuan, and gained a lot of musical experience during this period.
In 1999, he was invited to join BMG Publishing Ltd. and signed a composer contract. During this period, he was engaged in production, music creation and film scoring.
In 2002, he founded RNLS Productions Ltd. and RNLS Publishing Ltd. and became a full-time independent music producer
Music creation
Since his debut, Wu Lecheng has created There are more than 300 songs and works (please refer to the list of his works for details). His works have also won numerous awards, and the albums he co-produced have also won the Album Award from four joint music awards (for details, please see the list of awards).
In addition, Wu Lecheng has composed many film scores, including: "Love Story", "Half Seawater Half Fire", "Back Seat on the Sixth Floor", "Lavender", "100% Feeling 2", "The God of Cookery", "Mountains and Rivers Meet", "Flowers and Full Moon", etc. Among them, "Lavender" and "Landscapes Meet" were nominated for Best Original Film Music at the Film Awards. In 2003, he won the Best Original Film Song Award at the 22nd Hong Kong Film Awards for "Infernal Affairs".
In 2005, he released his first solo work and piano collection "Exhibition at Wu Le City".
In 2006, he co-created the all-chorus concept album "Perfect Match" with the famous lyricist Lin Xi***. Each piece in this concept album has its own unique musical style. What is the first of its kind is that it features many singers who are important in the pop music scene but have never collaborated before, such as Jacky Cheung and Eason Chan; Wang Mingquan and Chen Kelly; Xu Zhian and Tang Jianhong; Sun Yaowei and Cha Wanwan; Huang Guanzhong and Deng Jianming, etc., joined together to perform a song that was a "perfect match" between Wu Lecheng and Lin Xi, which aroused the admiration of music fans. Among them "The Statue of Liberty" starring Kelly Chen and Wang Mingquan is the most talked about.
In 2006, he founded the KDU Music College. The mission of the college is to break through the inherent separation of pop music and classical music in traditional music education. In addition to promoting the popularization of music education, it also hopes to provide services to Hong Kong and neighboring regions. The music industry nurtures a new generation of musical talent.
In addition, in 2006 and 2008 respectively, he also established Bole Production and Art Development Co., Ltd. and Cubic Music Production Co., Ltd., whose business scope includes advertising soundtracks, record production, film soundtracks, and music performances. and theme music production, etc. Its contract producers include Huang Danyi, Xie Guowei and a number of outstanding and potential new composers and lyricists, aiming to cultivate new blood for the music industry.
