1. Mirabell Palace amp; Mirabell Garden Schloss Mirabell amp; Mirabellgarten
Mirabell Palace is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Salzburg. A world of beautiful sculptures, ornate fountains, vine-wrapped archways and colorful flowers and plants, including enchanting tulips and crocuses. Some important scenes from the movie "The Sound of Music" were shot here. Looking east from the west side of Mirabell Palace you will see a beautiful panorama of Salzburg. Concerts and open-air performances are often held in the garden, usually between May and August at 10:30 and 20:30.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the train station.
2. Nonnberg Abbey
Located on the hill east of Salzburg Castle, Maria made her first appearance in this abbey in the movie "The Sound of Music" . This is a Benedictine monastery, founded in 714 and the oldest women's monastery in the German-speaking world.
It is a 25-minute walk from the train station.
3. Untersberg
Located about 10 kilometers southwest of Salzburg, it straddles the border between Germany and Austria. The highest point is 1,853 meters above sea level. In the movie "The Sound of Music", the scene where the Baron family escapes Austria was shot here.
You can reach the top of the mountain by taking a cable car or hiking.
4. Schloss Leopoldskron Palace Schloss Leopoldskron
Abbreviated as "Palace", it is located in the southern suburbs of Salzburg. Leopolzkron Palace is the most beautiful Rococo building in Salzburg, built in 1731. In the movie "The Sound of Music," this is Trapp's villa where Maria and the Baron dance on the balcony.
5. Schloss Anif / Anif Castle
Located 10 kilometers south of Salzburg, it is a neo-Gothic building built in the 19th century. Summer residence of the Archbishop of Bavaria. This beautiful castle also appears in the panoramic shot at the opening of the movie "The Sound of Music".
6. Schloss Frohnburg/ Frohnburg Castle
Located 4 kilometers south of Salzburg, this Baroque-style building was built in the 17th century and was originally the archbishop's house. Country house. Its facade, courtyard and main entrance were filmed as part of the Trapp Villa in the film The Sound of Music. Today, the house belongs to the Mozarteum Conservatoire.
7. Schloss Hellbrunn / Hellbrunn Palace
Also translated as "Bright Spring Palace", it is located 6 kilometers south of Salzburg and was built in the 17th century. The Archbishop's Summer Palace. There are many fountains and caves in the Baroque courtyard, forming a charming water palace. The glass pavilion used as the main scene for filming the love story in the movie "The Sound of Music" is now stored here. Opening hours: April, October, and November 9:00-16:30; May, June, and September 9:00-17:30; July and August 9:00-21:00.
8. There are several scenes about singing. One is the Shaft Castle Mountain in St. Woganf, which is the meadow where Mary sings. While singing, there was another shot of running out of the castle with a group of children, which was the way down the mountain from Salzburg.
