Chai Yongbai has a domineering style, and problems have been constantly reported in aspects such as college enrollment, new campus construction, employment and life style. For example, Chai transferred many relatives to work at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, so the college was nicknamed the "Chai Family Courtyard" by some faculty and staff.

Reports on Chai Yongbai have come from an endless stream over the years, some through organizational channels, and some publicly reported on the Internet. During Chai Yongbai's tenure, the Sichuan Provincial Audit Office at least twice handed over clues to the problems discovered in the audit to the Sichuan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education Discipline Inspection Team.

At a faculty meeting of the college, Chai Yongbai made harsh words: I know someone is reporting me, and whoever makes it difficult for me for a while, I will make it difficult for his whole family for the rest of his life!

On July 3, 2015, he was taken away by the Sichuan Provincial Discipline Inspection Agency for investigation.

When I heard that Chai was under investigation, some Sichuan Yin faculty and staff drank to celebrate the incident.

In July 2015, under the designated jurisdiction of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Procuratorate, the Chengdu Municipal People’s Procuratorate of Sichuan Province decided in accordance with the law to investigate Chai Yongbai (department level), the former Party Secretary of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, for suspected bribery. Investigation into the case is ongoing.
