According to the "Regional Environmental Noise Standards for Urban Areas of the People's Republic of China": In areas dominated by residences and cultural and educational institutions, the noise at night shall not exceed 45 decibels, and the designated time is from 22:00 at night to the next day 6 o'clock.
Article 61 of the "National Urban Regional Environmental Noise Standards of the People's Republic of China" Units and individuals harmed by environmental noise pollution have the right to require the perpetrators to eliminate the harm; if losses are caused, compensation shall be made in accordance with the law loss.
Disputes over liability for compensation and the amount of compensation may, at the request of the parties, be mediated by the environmental protection administrative department or other supervisory and administrative departments or institutions responsible for the prevention and control of environmental noise pollution; if mediation fails, the parties may submit Prosecution in the People's Court. The parties may also file a lawsuit directly with the People's Court.

The national "Urban Area Noise Standard" clearly stipulates the maximum environmental noise limit for five types of urban areas:
Recuperation areas, In high-end villa areas and high-end hotel areas, 50dB (decibel) during the day and 40dB at night (referring to 22:00 to 6:00 the next day, the same below);
In areas dominated by residential and cultural and educational institutions, the daytime limit is 40dB. 55dB, 45dB at night;
Residential, commercial and industrial mixed areas, 60dB during the day and 50dB at night;
Industrial areas, 65dB during the day and 55dB at night;
In areas on both sides of main road traffic arteries, inland waterways, and primary and secondary railway trunk lines in the city, the temperature is 70dB during the day and 55dB at night.
The "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Noise Pollution" was promulgated by the 20th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China on October 29, 1996. Passed on 1st March 1997, it is hereby promulgated and shall come into effect on March 1, 1997.
In the national "Environmental Noise Pollution Prevention and Control Law", the phenomenon of exceeding the national environmental noise emission standards and interfering with the normal life, work and study of others is called environmental noise pollution.
