The history and culture of Yiai Lake

More than 930 years ago, the great poet Su Dongpo, who was relegated here, named the small pavilion by the lake "Yaiai Pavilion", so this beautiful lake has a romantic name - Yiai Lake.

This is not a paradise for the successful, but a hometown for the frustrated. Therefore, there has always been little carving and little attachment, and it remains natural and fresh.

The Yiai Pavilion of that year has long disappeared in the smoke and dust of history.

Later Huangzhou people called the East Lake, West Lake and Lingjiao Lake that were on the outskirts of the city and are now in the city Yiai Lake.

Why is a lake that has nothing to do with Yiai Pavilion called Yiai Lake? Probably the simple Huangzhou people miss the incorruptible deputy envoy Su Dongpo.

According to legend, Emperor Renzong came to Huangzhou to observe the sentiments of the people during the Jiayou period of Song Dynasty.

It is spring and the flowers are blooming. The sun is shining brightly, the peach blossoms are blooming with smiles, and the swallows are happily cutting in the spring breeze, as if welcoming the emperor's arrival.

Accompanied by the prefect of Huangzhou, Emperor Renzong led a group of people to a village near the east of the city.

On this day, Emperor Renzong was in a good mood.

They faced the spring breeze and saw the blooming peach blossoms, feeling relaxed and happy. The monarch and his ministers were talking and laughing.

Suddenly, a burst of sweet singing came from nowhere.

Emperor Renzong walked unconsciously looking for the song.

It turns out that in front of the village is the beautiful Huangzhou East Lake.

The breeze blows and the blue waves ripple on the lake.

There is a beautiful peasant girl by the lake, who is pounding her clothes and singing a beautiful song.

The rhythmic sound of pounding and pestling, in conjunction with the sweet and crisp singing, is particularly beautiful.

The girl was playing and singing by herself.

The fiery morning glow shone on her beautiful body.

She has jet black hair, and a long braid is tied with a red headband, which hangs down to her waist. From time to time, it falls to the water and is thrown behind her.

Her graceful figure was reflected in the lake, twinkling.

Renzong stood behind her, looking at her with fascination, but she didn't notice at all.

Not long after, the girl finished washing her clothes, packed the basin, and prepared to go home.

When she turned around, she realized that there was someone behind her looking at her.

Suddenly their eyes met, and the girl panicked. She quickly lowered her head, smiled shyly, threw her long braid behind her, and ran away quickly.

This smile didn't matter, but it attracted the romantic soul of Emperor Renzong.

During the imperial meal at noon, Emperor Renzong summoned the prefect to ask which family the washer girl by the lake just now belonged to and what her name was.

Who is the prefect? Naturally, he knew the emperor's thoughts well, so he immediately sent people to the village, found the washer girl's home, and told her family: The emperor was by the lake just now and saw your girl. He liked it very much. He was so happy. !

The girl’s parents are both farmers. Who has seen the emperor in any dynasty? Neighbors next door and around also heard the news and came to express their congratulations.

In this way, after careful arrangements by the prefect, the peasant girl was taken to the emperor the next day.

When the emperor looked at the girl, she had an innocent look on her face and a toned body.

In an instant, Long Yan was overjoyed and took her with him to inspect other counties.

More than a month later, on the way back to the capital, he passed through Huangzhou and settled the girl in her parents' house. He promised that after returning to the capital, he would issue an edict to enter the palace soon so that they could stay together. Keep.

However, when the emperor returned to the capital, he was criticized by the queen and some of the royal family members when he mentioned the matter, so the edict was not issued for a long time.

And this peasant girl, with a passion, thinks about it in the morning and at night, and waits at home every day.

Time flies, and more than two months have passed. Every day, the girl runs to the place where she met the emperor and stands there looking up.

Spring is gone, the blooming peach blossoms have long since withered, and the girl’s face has become haggard.

Some people in the neighborhood started talking.

The girl did not dare to go out, so she could only hide at home, not thinking about food and tea in the morning and evening.

"Did the emperor really forget about me after he returned to Beijing? Probably not.

"The girl still held on to hope and looked forward to the emperor's edict every day. However, Time flies like water, and the years go by day by day, but there is still no news of the emperor's edict.

People's comments are increasing day by day, and the girl's appearance is getting thinner day by day.

On a dark and windy night for a month, the girl finally fell in love with her. In the mist, with a resentful heart, she walked into the lake from the stone steps where she met while washing, and felt merciless The lake swallowed up her young life.

The girl is gone, but her story is still circulating among the people.

Will the emperor really forget her? The girl believed in her heart that it would not happen, but the world knew it well.

It is said that Renzong was heartbroken after learning about this incident.

Dongpo felt that the prefect was an upright and honest official, which was beneficial to the countryside and that people would leave and survive, so he named the pavilion "Yi Ai" and wrote a plaque on it.

At that time, a friend of Dongpo's hometown, Chaogu, came to Huangzhou to visit, and Dongpo introduced Chaogu to Xu Gong.

Xu Junyou asked Chaogu to write a note for Yiai Pavilion.

Su Dongpo realized what Xu Gong meant and felt that the people of the Chaogu Ji faction did not know much about Huangzhou and the prefect, so it was most appropriate for him to pen this text.
