There are many legends about colorful plumage. First, it is said that a Taoist named Luo Gongyuan broke a sweet-scented osmanthus and threw it into the air on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival while enjoying the moon in the palace. Then Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei set foot on the long bridge and entered the moon palace. They saw hundreds of fairies dancing in elegant long ribbons. It is said that this is "Dancing in Dresses and Feathers". Xuanzong was proficient in melody and secretly memorized the music score. When he came back, he only remembered half of it and let the musicians rehearse. Later, Yang Jingshu, the commander-in-chief of Xiliang, presented the Brahman Song, and the tone was consistent with the original song, so he took the passage memorized in the Moon Palace as a "preface", and the music presented by Yang Jingshu was named "colorful plumage". On the day when Yang Guifei entered the palace, musicians played this tune, and she was ichalky. This dance is named "Dress in a Dress and Feather". The dancer's coat is said to be decorated with feathers, so it is called "feather coat", and the following is a rainbow-like flash pattern, so it is called "neon dress".

There is an overture before the beginning of Dancing in Dress and Feather, which is called "Sanxu". Instead of dancing, the middle sequence starts dancing. The dance is gentle and graceful, and gradually becomes faster and faster. When it reaches the rapid allegro, it is called "breaking", and it rotates quickly. Generally, the dance ends when it reaches "breaking". The first performer of this dance is Yang Guifei, and she is most famous for her performance. At first, most of them were solo dances, and then there were duets and group dances. "Dancing in a Dress and Feather" requires a high degree of spinning skills. Although Yang Guifei is plump, she has superb skills, which embodies the artistic realm of "floating back to the snow, smiling and surprising Youlong". When someone praised Zhao Feiyan's dancing skills, she once boasted: "The song" Dress and Feather "overshadowed the predecessors." Yang Guifei is also good at the dance "Hu Xuan Dance" from Central Asia, which is a fast-changing dance.

They went to Majipo, Shaanxi Province, and did not send it in June, forcing Tang Xuanzong to hang Yang Guifei by imperial edict. Yang Guifei was thirty-eight years old when she died.
