What does remix mean?

Mixing means the sound synthesis technology when recording records.

Mixing is a step in music production that integrates sounds from multiple sources into a stereo or mono track. These mixed sound signals may come from different musical instruments, vocals or orchestral music, and may be collected from live performances or recording studios.

During the mixing process, the mixer will individually adjust the frequency, dynamics, sound quality, positioning, reverberation and sound field of each original signal to optimize each track, and then superimposed on the final product. This processing method can produce a layered and perfect effect that ordinary listeners cannot hear during live recording.

The pre- and post-mixing stages:

The pre-stage is to do the overall effect, such as mixing, EQing vocals and instruments, and positioning each instrument well. This will sound like an overall mix pattern. In fact, after recording and before formal mixing, there is often an audio editing operation, such as reducing the sibilance in the recorded vocals, removing drool, controlling breathing, etc.

The most important process in the later stage is mastering, which mainly involves compressing the music mixed in the early stages before releasing it. This compression does not compress the audio, but compresses the entire audio, which sounds very average. And then adjust the EQ of the music synthesized in the previous stage. In addition, an important operation of mastering nowadays is to maximize the loudness.
