"Music Producer" is mainly responsible for the music production part of the record. He must have excellent musical accomplishment and practical ability. Thus relying on his expertise and experience to create the best sound for the record. This role is similar to that of a film director. The task of the supervisor is to promptly correct the mistakes made by musicians and singers in the early recording of the record in the recording room, and to guide the recording engineer on the volume ratio and layering effect to be made when mixing the record in the later stage. …The brilliance of some music producers lies in their talent for translating an artist’s music into the sound of a record, and their ability to convey the musician’s ideas. Producers often encounter various difficulties in this situation. The most troublesome situation is that most musicians have their own personal opinions, and what is even more unfortunate is that these opinions are usually incorrect. The music supervisor should be the partner of the music producer and an integral part of the producer system. Of course, because Chinese contemporary pop music is in the running-in stage at this time, the understanding of producers, agents, and supervisors is not yet very mature and consistent. In many aspects, the functions of the three still have many overlapping parts. As for the division of labor in the audiovisual industry, the emergence of the three is undoubtedly their own place and each performs its duties. But as a system, China's contemporary pop music production system still needs a long period of exploration and adjustment.

The above is a brief introduction to the various components of China's contemporary pop music production system. This new production system began to appear and be promoted in the Guangzhou music scene in the mid-to-late 1980s. By 1994, all eight audiovisual production units in Guangzhou had adopted a production system characterized by international singer signings and an all-round packaging system.
