Curiously, Captain Werner first set foot in Nina's house to the sound of piano playing. This was a good arrangement by the screenwriter, because later we learned that Werner was originally a composer before the war. In this way, as a piano teacher, Nina almost forgave him in the end, which is the great role that music plays between them.
at first, Nina and grandpa faced Werner with great hatred. We are aware of Werner's guilt and sympathy for the hostility of the owner. This is a sensitive and affectionate person. His first words to the old man and Nianana were this: "I was ordered by my superiors to live here. If I could choose, I wouldn't come here. " I think everyone in the audience felt his kindness. The captain will return to his room on time every night.
The evidence that Nina fell in love with the captain happened on Christmas night. At that time, there were only two young people left in the whole room. Werner sat in front of the piano and lovingly played the Bach's Law of Average, which Nianana played to grandpa at the beginning of the film. In the music, the camera showed us the looming tears in Nianana's eyes. The girl has fallen in love with him. It is music that makes mutual understanding and sympathy possible.
This is one of the most valuable parts of the film and the reason why I wrote this article. I remember a writer once said, "Many human misfortunes are often caused by misunderstanding". Indeed, people's understanding is so difficult. Therefore, Silence as the Sea is more like a fairy tale, because people can't help but think of the bloody name Auschwitz about World War II. Silence as the Sea focuses on hope, and I want to reiterate this point.
? Finally, Werner was sent to Russia. Before the car started, Nina finally said that sad and only sentence to him in the film:
"Goodbye."
The repressed feelings in the whole movie are released in this sentence. If that's all, I'm afraid it's not enough. What really impressed me is that after Werner left, Nina became a member of the resistance against the invaders. In fact, only war itself is evil.
