1. The layout of the house

If the economy is the blood of the family, then the house is the body of the family. If you want your body to be healthy, you must pay attention to cleanliness; then your home must follow my Buddha's "purify the house and bedding". Another analogy is that people are the soul of the family, then the house is the clothing of the family. The slovenliness of our clothes is not only unsightly and unsightly, it is also very detrimental to our health. So how can we not pay attention to the layout of our residence?

The size of the house does not matter, as long as it is strong and tidy, with fresh air and sufficient light. The beauty of a home does not lie in how luxurious the house is or how luxurious the furniture is; rather, it lies in the beautifying arrangement with exquisite artistic techniques. A very simple house, with clever arrangements, can become a very elegant and pleasant paradise. When using and installing furniture, one must carefully observe the situation at home and be good at planning. You must carefully consider what you should buy and what you should not buy, so as not to waste it.

It is best to live in a house facing the southeast, and the second best is to face the southwest. If it is facing northwest, it is not suitable. Because houses facing the southeast are not exposed to the scorching heat in summer, but are exposed to sunlight in winter, which happens to be in inverse proportion to those facing the northwest. This is what we should pay attention to when choosing a living room.

A vase or bonsai is placed in the corner of the room. It is appropriate to hang Buddhist couplets, Buddhist pictures, or landscapes on the walls to fill the room with Buddhist scenes. Not only can you get a deep impression on yourself through familiarity; you can also make your guests, relatives and friends feel strongly, and you can invisibly reap the effect of spreading the Dharma. It is better to change the hanging of calligraphy and painting from time to time.

(4) Buddhist Hall

In the center, there are statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva. Place an incense burner, a clean cup, and two vases on the table. Flowers are often placed on the table. An electric or oil lamp is placed in front of the Buddha. One or three sticks of incense are burned during morning and evening rituals. After the evening class, you can extinguish the lamp in front of the Buddha and place several homework books on the table to represent the magic weapon. Add a curtain in front of the table and place one or several worship stools. Buddhist couplets and pictures are hung on the walls to promote pure karma. Offer a cup of boiled water in front of the Buddha in the morning and sprinkle it outside in the afternoon. The Buddhist hall must be cleaned every day. If the house is small, the bedrooms should be separated by curtains (or separated by cupboards), and a small part should be used as a Buddhist hall. When offering images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, be simple and purified, and avoid making mixed offerings, which will lose the solemnity. Regarding the statues as follows:

Sakyamuni Buddha is accompanied by Manjushri Samantabhadra on the left and right.

Amitabha is accompanied by Avalokitesvara on the left and right.

Or the ten major disciples of Maitreya Buddha Ksitigarbha and Sakyamuni.

Perhaps only for Buddha Amitabha and Avalokitesvara Mahasthamaprapta.

It is strictly forbidden to worship any idols.

(5) Study room

As for the layout of the study room, the following principles should be followed: neat, concise, beautiful and eye-catching. Put some bookcases against the wall. There is a table in the room, with a tablecloth spread on the table and a few chairs surrounding it. Hang some calligraphy and paintings on the wall, as well as Buddhist slogans, mottos, etc. Books to choose from: 1. Buddhist books and magazines. 2. Valuable Chinese science books. 3. Useful novels, stories and poems.

The knowledge obtained from the textbooks prescribed by the school is limited. If we want our children to gain more knowledge, we must give them the opportunity to read other books outside of class. Therefore, a library should be set up in the home. We have purchased various books and can lend them to relatives, friends and neighbors to read. It is very effective to persuade them to believe in Buddhism through words. If the house is small and there is no room for a library, it is okay to just use a cupboard to store books on Buddhism, science, literature, etc.

(6) Kitchen

In addition to sweeping and cleaning every day, all cooking utensils, utensils, and tableware must be washed every day.

(7) Toilets

In addition to sweeping and cleaning, the floor and corners must be sprinkled with more lime and more epidemic prevention water.

(8) Floor

It is easy to rot due to moisture. It is advisable to make several movable pieces and nail an iron ring. Whenever there is bad weather, these floors should be uncovered to allow the moisture to escape and avoid rot. If you wipe the joists and the back of the floor with tung oil when laying the boards, it will last twice as long as if you did not apply oil.

(9) Window curtains

The color should be consistent with the four walls. The material should be thicker and can withstand wind and sun without being damaged easily.

2. Home Instructions

The house is where the happiness of the whole family is entrusted, so it should be swept clean and all utensils wiped and organized every day. Open windows, adjust the air, and be cautious about doors. Do not accumulate garbage indoors. If the house is damaged, it should be repaired immediately.

(1) Pay attention to fire candles

Be even more careful with fire candles. Objects that can cause fire, such as waste paper, random grass, broken wadding, sawdust, etc., should not be placed close to the stove door and stove to prevent fires from causing disasters. The amount of firewood required daily should be estimated per day. For dosage, place it under the stove and do not accumulate it too much. Burn it today and take it out tomorrow. Children should not be allowed to light fires, as they may make mistakes if they do not know how to be careful. Elderly people in Longzhong should not be allowed to light fires, for fear that they will fall asleep and make trouble. Before going to bed, check the stove door and around the stove. Keep nothing burning in those places to prevent the ashes from rekindling, burning things and causing a fire.

When going to bed on a winter night, if there is no chimney equipment indoors, do not burn a coal stove for heating to prevent gas poisoning and life-threatening danger.

For the storage of firewood, a separate room should be prepared and tightly sealed. The door can only be opened when collecting firewood. Smoking should be prohibited indoors, and lights without covers are not allowed inside.

The kerosene lamp must be blown out when going to bed to avoid being knocked over by cats and mice at night and burning. Fire oil tanks and fire oil kettles cannot be placed near fire barrels or fire cylinders. The fuel tank should be covered to prevent sparks from falling and causing accidents. If a fire breaks out due to spilled kerosene, avoid watering. It can be extinguished by covering it with dry ash or wet ash, or covering it with bedding or blankets. Sleeping with a stove in the winter often causes the bedding to become scorched, or even accidentally causes a fire. Drying children's diapers overnight has the same disadvantages and should be avoided.

Children like to play with burning paper or dance with burning candles. That is dangerous and we should stop it.

If you encounter an accident in the countryside, you must try your best to help and extinguish it. Don't just move your belongings.

(2) Do not harm neighbors

Do not have quarrels or make loud noises at home, causing uneasiness to neighbors. What's more, you should not turn on the radio or gramophone when the night is quieter, causing music, singing, etc. to disturb your neighbors' dreams. When doing homework in the morning and evening at home, there is no need to knock the wooden fish or the chime.

The common drying area for cohabitants is not allowed to be occupied by one family. Even if there are a lot of clothes to dry, you should first ask if the cohabitant needs it. Do not wash clothes next to public water pipes, which will hinder the convenience of others to get water. Sewers should not be allowed to accumulate dirt, which would block the drainage and impede public health.

If there is room near the home, it is advisable to cultivate flowers, plants, fruit trees, and vegetables. Making the environment elegant and elegant can cultivate your temperament. Never dump garbage at the entrance of the alley or outside the back door.
