Ancient military science and modern strategy science only analyze it from a psychological perspective to understand its mysteries. But no one has ever understood this issue from the perspective of temperament and magnanimity. Professor Wu Shen looks at this issue from the perspective of magnanimity. Zhuge Liang was an extremely intelligent strategist who knew about health preservation, five tones, eight trigrams, and the ability to pinch and calculate. He used the theory of five tones to correspond to the five internal organs, and disturbed Sima Yi's heart with his qin playing and extraordinary temperament, and then he retreated the enemy soldiers. Professor Wu Shen came to this realization after reading "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and other literature about Zhuge Liang many times. Of course, you can explain why he used harp music to retreat. If you analyze the original text carefully, you can see the clues of using music to defeat the opponent.

To sum up, there are five reasons why Zhuge Liang used music as a strategy in the empty city plan:

1. When Zhuge Liang learned that Ma Su Street Pavilion had been lost, he was just "shocked" and did not cause chaos. Instead of keeping his mind occupied, he calmly arranged a dozen things in an orderly manner. This is the unique "temperament" of a senior military advisor: not to panic when faced with surprise;

2. When Sima Yi led his troops and approached the city, Zhuge Liang ordered: "Open the four gates, and open each gate." Use twenty sergeants to pretend to be common people and sweep the streets. If the Wei soldiers arrive, they must not move without permission. I have my own plan." Please note that the four doors are opened first. This is Zhuge Liang's "Qi Men Dun" formation. The method first gives the enemy soldiers an uncertain atmosphere; then he says "I have my own plan", which reminds me of Zhuge Liang's life achievements. Before the famous battle of Chibi with Wu and Cao, he came to Soochow and had a verbal battle with Zhang Zhao, the leader of the surrender faction. He said something like this: "In the past, Emperor Gao was defeated by Xiang Yu several times, but Gai Xia succeeded in the battle. This is not the good of Han Xin." Is it a conspiracy? The emperor has been broken for a long time, and he has never won a victory. The country's great plans and the safety of the country have a mastermind." It can be said that at this time, Zhuge Liang had already thought of Liu Bang's defeat of Xiang Yu, and he had a profound study of this battle. He wanted to use his musical ability to defeat Sima Yi and create a miracle.

3. At this time, Zhuge Liang "wrapped himself in a crane cloak and a silk scarf, and led two boys to carry a harp, sit on the railing in front of the enemy tower on the city, burn incense and play the harp." It was the sixth year of Jian'an. It’s summer in May and it’s not cold, so why wear a crane cloak? This is the mantle of a senior military strategist who is connected to heaven and wants to cast spells. The crane's cloak is spiritual.

4. Why Zhuge Liang did not choose other musical instruments is related to the theory of five tones on the five internal organs. Disturbing the morale of the army is a common combat tactic, especially the key to disturbing the opponent's coach. How could Zhuge Liang not know this? And Qin belongs to Zheng, "Huangdi Neijing". "Su Wen" said: "The sound is a symbol, and the sound is laughter." Zhuge Liang's playing the piano at this time was "with a smile on his face, burning incense and playing the piano." If he didn't understand music, why would he laugh? He can't sing? To moan? Go shout? Or close your eyes and shake your head? No, none of this will work. Only by laughing can it comply with the principle of matching the five tones with the five internal organs, so that the energy of music can play its maximum role.

5. "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" also records that after reading Sima Yi's suspicion, he went to the central army and asked the rear army to become the front army and retreated to the north. His second son blocked him: "Could it be that Zhuge Liang had no army and was acting like this? Why did my father retreat?" It should be added below: At this time, Sima Yi felt that there was some truth to what his second son said, so he raised his head and looked towards Zhuge Liang, only to see that Zhuge Liang was still there. Such a lovely smile shocked him unconsciously. As a burst of violent and rapid music came, it was as if threads were tying up his heart. He was so breathless that he suddenly felt his eyes go dark, and he was about to escape from the horse. Fall. At this time, the anxious second son reached out to support Sima Yi: "Father, what's wrong with you?" Sima Yi covered his chest with one hand: "I don't know why, I feel uncomfortable when I hear the sound of the piano, please retreat quickly. "So the soldiers and horses from both groups retreated.
