Location

Singapore Raffles Conservatory of Music is now located at 6A Woodlands Center Road, Singapore, close to the junction of Singapore and Malaysia. It is the richest area in Singapore with long history and culture. The scenery near the college is beautiful and the air is fresh, which is very suitable for studying and living. The transportation is convenient, especially close to the subway station. The area where the college is located has excellent public security, allowing students to study with peace of mind in a stable and safe environment.

Curriculum setting

The curriculum of this college is divided into four majors:

1. Vocal music major: (including ethnic, opera, and modern pop music)

Curriculum: such as Chinese and foreign music history, performance psychology, music appreciation, physical training, chorus rehearsal, etc.;

2. National Instrumental Music Major: (including guzheng, erhu, pipa, ruan xian, bamboo flute, suona, sheng and other national instrumental music)

Curriculum: History of the development of Chinese national music, general knowledge of composition, introduction to literature and art, ensemble and rehearsal, etc.;

Curriculum: Chinese and foreign music history, introduction to the development of modern Chinese music, piano improvisation accompaniment, piano teaching methods, music appreciation, etc.;

4. Western Orchestra major: (including saxophone, flute, Clarinet, single/oboe, trombone, trumpet, French horn, violin, viola, cello, bass and other Western orchestral instruments);

Curriculum: including a general history of Chinese and foreign music, an introduction to orchestral music and Western music, Concerto, orchestration, etc.

Note: Each department has its own major courses and basic music theory courses; required courses include professional courses, music theory, sight-singing and ear training, physical education, English, etc.; a large number of elective courses are also offered every semester to enrich students study life. Each year is divided into two semesters, each semester has 17 weeks, of which: one week is a review week, two weeks are review classes, and the remaining 14 weeks are practical course time. The number of credit hours in each academic year is determined based on the student's learning status that year.
