[ Edit this paragraph] Establishment and evolution
In BC, a large amount of sediment in the Yangtze River was deposited at the mouth of the Yangtze River, forming sandbars of different sizes. After about 8 spring and autumn periods, two sandbars, Dongzhou and Buzhou, and groups of small sandbars appeared at the end of the Tang Dynasty, and sandbars were gradually connected. After the Five Dynasties, the county was established in the fifth year of Zhou Xiande (958), and the county was located in Dongzhou Town, named Haimen County. As the main channel of the Yangtze River moved northward, by the middle of the Ming Dynasty, a large area of land in the territory collapsed to the first line of Lvsi, Yudong and Sijia, and the county government moved to Xujian (now xin ren, Nantong County). And abolish the county and merge it into Tongzhou to build Jinghai Township. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the river flowed southward, and the north bank of the Yangtze River began to accumulate, with more than 4 new sands rising for more than a hundred miles. In the thirty-third year of Qianlong (1768), the Zhili Hall of Jiangsu Province was established, and it was located in Maojia Town. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was renamed Haimen County. In 1949, after the establishment of New China, the people of Haimen protected the slope and eliminated the collapse. Haimen County is subordinate to Nantong District, Subei Administrative Region (Nantong District, Jiangsu Province in 1953, changed to Nantong District, Jiangsu Province in April 1955, and changed to Nantong District, Jiangsu Province in April 1971). In 1983, the city ruled the county, and the Nantong area was abolished. Haimen County was transferred to Nantong City, Jiangsu Province.
In June, 1994, the county was withdrawn to set up a city, and Haimen City was established. It was transferred to Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, and the Municipal People's Government was stationed in Haimen Town.
