The flute is the oldest Han musical instrument discovered so far, and it is also the most representative and national instrument among Han musical instruments. China bamboo flute, one of the woodwind instruments commonly used in China traditional music, is generally divided into Qu Di in the south, Bangdi in the north and alto flute in between.

generally, the range can reach two octaves or more. Dizi is often used in China folk music, traditional Chinese opera, China national orchestra, western symphony orchestra and modern music, and it is one of the representative musical instruments of China. In national bands, the flute is an important wind instrument and is regarded as the representative of national wind music.

Historical evolution:

Most flutes are made of bamboo, but there are also flutes made of stone flutes, Yu Di and mahogany, and bone flutes in ancient times. However, the best raw material for making flutes is still bamboo, because bamboo flutes have better sound effect and lower production cost. China flute has a long history, which can be traced back to the Neolithic Age.

At that time, the ancestors lit bonfires, set up prey, sang and danced exultantly while eating around the captured prey, and blew it by drilling holes in the tibia of birds, trapping prey and transmitting signals with its sound, thus giving birth to the oldest musical instrument unearthed in China-bone flute. In 1977, bone whistle and bone flute were unearthed in Hemudu, Yuyao, Zhejiang, about 7 years ago.

in may p>1986, 16 vertical bone flutes (made of bird limbs) were excavated in the early Neolithic site in the east of Jia Hu village, Wuyang county, Henan province, which has a history of more than 8, years. The sound holes range from five holes to eight holes, most of which are seven-tone flutes, and some sound holes are added with small holes, which are completely consistent with the modern China tone.

in p>1987, seven Jia Hu bone flutes (about 9 years ago) were unearthed at Jiahu site in Wuyang county, Henan province, which is the earliest musical instrument in the world. During the period of the Yellow Emperor, that is, more than 4, years ago, a large number of bamboos grew in the Yellow River basin, and bamboo was chosen as the material to make flutes. Historical records recorded that "the Yellow Emperor made Ling Lun cut bamboos in Kunming to make flutes and blow them into Fengming".
