In 1950, the land reform movement in Hunan began, and Lituo Township was selected as a land reform pilot. That year, due to the success of the land reform in Lituo Township, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government decided to hold a literary evening in Lituo Township and required everyone in the art troupe to create a work to participate in the performance. Therefore, Xu Shuhua created the Flower Drum Opera "Bulldozer", of which "Liuyang River" is the third section. When Xu Shuhua submitted "Bulldozer", the art troupe changed the name to "Double Delivery of Food". In 1951, when "Double Delivery of Food" was sent to Wuhan Central and South Cultural Bureau for review, it was changed into a tune with Hunan characteristics. In 1959, the song began to circulate as an independent song.
