Tea-picking Opera in northern Guangdong, also known as Nanyue Folk Song Opera, originated from Wuhua County, xingning city, Dawang Town, Lechang City and other places in the northern part of Guangdong Province, China. It is a local drama with performances such as Xiaosheng, Xiaodan, Laosheng and Laodan. Tea-picking dramas have a wide range of themes, including history, military affairs, love and folk stories, among which folk stories are the main ones.

The performance form of this drama is mainly singing, supplemented by speaking, beating, dancing and props, and it is characterized by freshness, elegance, liveliness and lightness. The main actors in the tea-picking opera use Chaoshan music system and sing in Guangdong Lingnan popular cavity, and pay more attention to the expression of vivid nature and emotional transformation in dance, action and music.
