Tianjin Conservatory of Music was founded in 1958 and is among the first batch of graduate schools in the country to offer master's and bachelor's degrees. One of the degree-granting institutions. The first dean of Tianjin Conservatory of Music was Miao Tianrui, a famous music educator and theorist.
After more than sixty years of construction, the college has developed into an important higher art education institution for cultivating talents in music, dance, drama, film and television. It now has three first-level disciplines: Art Theory, Music and Dance, and Drama and Film, and one professional master's degree (MFA) authorization point. Music and Dance, Drama and Film are municipal key disciplines.
There are currently 12 undergraduate majors such as music performance, including 2 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 Tianjin municipal-level advantageous majors, and 3 applied majors.
The college is divided into two campuses: south and north. There are currently 430 faculty members and 3,246 full-time students, including 2,728 undergraduates and 518 graduate students.
The college has musicology, composition, vocal music, ethnic vocal music, folk music, orchestra, piano, accordion keyboard, music education, art management, modern music, dance, film and television, basic courses, ideological and political teaching center, etc. 15 teaching departments, as well as the Continuing Education College for the Blind, the Affiliated Middle School and the Affiliated Primary School (cooperation), have formed a complete multi-level and multi-type art talent training model and system.
