On January 1, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced that more than 200 scenic spots in the province would be temporarily closed.

As of 14:00 on January 1, 2008, the following tourist attractions (spots) are temporarily closed.

1. The temporarily closed attractions in Changsha include Changsha Ecological Zoo, Orange Island, Baxizhou, Yanghu Wetland, Changsha Garden Ecological Park, Provincial Botanical Garden, Shiyan Lake, Heimifeng, Jinggang Ancient Town, Lei Feng Memorial Hall, Shutang Mountain, Baiyuan Garden, New Kangxi Township, Butterfly Valley, Tongguanyao Heritage Park, Beila Town, Huaminglou Scenic Area, Thousand Buddha Cave Scenic Area, etc.

2. Hengshan Guohua Scenic Area and Gouloufeng Scenic Area are closed, and Cailun Bamboo Sea Scenic Area is closed; environmentally friendly vehicles and cableways in Nanyue Central Scenic Area are out of service.

3. Zhuzhou Yanling Shennong Valley, Chaling Yunyang Mountain Scenic Area, You County Bailong Cave, Xianren Bridge, Liling Clear Water Bay, Yunlong Water Park, Fangte Outdoor Project, Lusong District Dajing Amusement Project, Yan Diling Scenic Area is closed.

4. Xiangtan Shuifu Temple Tourist Area, Wanlou Scenic Area, Zhaoshan Scenic Area, and Peng Memorial Hall are closed; Shaoshan Scenic Area is open.

5. Shaoyang Shuanglong Weizi Park, Xiangjiao Ecological Culture Brewing City, Cai E’s Hometown Cultural Expo Park, Suining County Huangsang Scenic Area, Zhaishi Scenic Area, Dongkou County Nuoxi National Forest Park, Magnolia Banjiang Scenic spots are closed.

6. All 15 A-level scenic spots in Loudi City are closed, and all 43 A-level scenic spots in Huaihua City, except Hongjiang Ancient Shopping City Scenic Area and Hongjiang Qianyang Ancient City, are closed.

7. Tuojiang rafting, rural tours, Nanhua Temple, Shenfeng Cultural Scenic Area and other scenic spots in Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Prefecture are closed.

Currently open attractions

1. Currently, Juzizhou Scenic Area has opened on January 2, and the adjacent Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area has also partially opened on January 1. Among them, The area includes: main tourist road, Aiwan Pavilion, and sightseeing corridor.
